Krasic is the Key Player for Juventus

A season ago Milos Krasic was a blonde haired Serbian winger playing in Russia, this season he has become the new Pavel Nedved for Juventus. While he has created chances provided plenty of assists, Juve’s most recent match was where he showed enormous amounts of talent.

Krasic scored a hat trick as Juventus defeated Cagliari 4-2, propelling the Bianconeri up the table, just three points away from first placed Inter Milan. And with the direct clash between Juventus and Inter coming next week, Milos Krasic will have to shine yet again so that Juventus can defeat Inter Milan, possibly drawing level on points with last season’s champions.

Krasic had an immediate effect for Juventus; he was fast, knew how to beat players, provided dangerous crosses, and knew how to be dangerous by himself. It’s no surprise that he netted his first goals for Juventus, with his quick thinking and movement, he found the right place to be at the right time.

But Krasic isn’t a goalscorer, he’s a player who provides assists, and so far he has delivered for Juventus. He already has three assists, and he created plenty of other goals with his dangerous balls into the penalty box. Right now, Krasic is looking like the most dangerous winger in the Serie A, and if he can continue with these performances, then reaching the legend of Pavel Nedved won’t be too difficult.

Delneri has found the perfect mix for Juventus, using Krasic and Pepe out on the wings, the coach gets plenty of work-rate from the two wingers. And while Pepe isn’t as dangerous offensively, he covers more ground defensively, giving the Serbian winger some freedom to express himself. This solution is perfect, because as long as Krasic provides crosses for Amauri, Iaquinta, and Quagliarella, Juventus will be scoring goals.

While this tactical mix works well right now, I don’t think it will be as effective against Inter Milan. The next weekend when the two sides meet, Krasic will be trying to get past Inter Milan’s left-back Cristian Chivu, and there’s no doubt that the Romanian is as tough as they get. Not only is Chivu a solid left-back, he actually said in a recent interview that his actual preferred position is in the center of defense.

This works perfectly for Rafa Benitez, because while Maicon bombs down the right wing, Chivu stays back, and the defense becomes a line of three center backs. And with Cambiasso in front of them, Juve will have difficulty breaking down Inter Milan to reach Julio Cesar. This system stops many counter-attacks from fast teams, and it should stop Krasic.

But of course, Delneri is an astute tactician, and he’ll surely find a way to try and penetrate the Nerazzurri defense. It’ll be interesting to see how he will use Milos Krasic, considering that the Serbian is Juve’s key man.
