Klose for Manchester United?
With Solskjaer coming back to fitness, Larsson coming in and Rossi coming back from Newcastle, Manchester United could be ’set’ for strikers (they’re still one short, but they can make it work) till the end of the season.
Which brings us to the big question - which striker are we buying next summer?
The fans’ choice is Torres. He’s fast, he’s young, he’s increasingly disillusioned by Atletico Madrid’s lack of titles and he’s looking to move. He won’t go to Real, and Barcelona would be loathe to buy someone from Madrid (plus they’re courting Henry, and they already have Messi as a young gun), so that means Torres will go abroad.
Inter and Manchester United are two likeliest options for Torres, because I doubt that Chelsea will go after another high-profile player. He won’t be cheap though - I expect him to cost around 25 to 30 mil.
The other option could be Miroslav Klose, with the striker wanting to leave Werder Bremen and the club saying that they’d be willing to listen to the ‘right offer’.
He’s 28, a clinical finisher and strong in the air. He’ll probably cost us around 10 mil.
1/3rd the price of Torres, 6 years older than him. Bargain shopping, yes, but quality is quality and Klose could be a key player once Solksjaer leaves - plus it remains to be seen whether Rossi will blossom into the striker that Ferguson expects him to become.
If Rossi returns to Manchester United and starts banging in them goals, we might go for an older striker and bank on experience and let Rossi and Rooney carry United forward.
There’s just one issue though - Arsenal and Barcelona are also rumoured to be after Klose, with Arsenal the most likely to go for him.
What do you guys think? Is Klose good enough for Manchester United?

No point in buying Klose - our crossnig is not good enough to take advantage of his heading ability, which is his main asset. His all round game is good, but imo he is very like Ruud and i do not think he would fit into the new style of play at United. We need quick, strong, mobile players, and Klose is more of a target man.
These has been talk that Juventus think trezeguet will move to United in January and have put together a deal for Klose themselves, but with Larsson coming in January now, that appears unlikely.
I still think Torres, or possible Huntelaar (sp?) will be the top two striking targets next summer. Torres would be my first choice.
I hope we don’t go for Klose as I think he is too much in the style of Ruud Van Nistelroy. Whilst Ruud was a tremendous goal scorer, his style of play had a negative effect on the rest of the team. You only have to look at how well we’ve played since he’s left to see that. The build up play has to be slow and deliberate which means teams have time to group and snub you out. Man Utd have always been about pace and movement so I say go get ‘Torres’.
Klose is a good player, no question, but i can’t see Ferguson being interested enough to move for him. Klose is nearly 29, if you look at previous years under Fergie at United, strikers who are around the age of 30 don’t interest him. With the exeption of Ole and now Larsson, you won’t last long at that age with Fergie. Cole, Yorke, Ruud etc were all moved on at that stage of their career’s.
So overall, because of his age i can’t see us signing him. Werder are suppsodedly looking for around £15m for Klose, otherwise they won’t sell.
£15m for 2/3-years (Klose) or £23m for 8/10-years (Torres)?
I know which one i’d go for.
Definately good enough, no questions there. Also age isnt really a problem, yea Torrees is younger but he is a Rooney-like player who goes deep to get the ball and runs at people. What you need is a target man who will hold the ball up, exactly like Klose. This would allowed Rossi to go out on loan and get some expereince. Strikers peak at around Klose’s age i think he would be a killer buy.
Klose would be great, he was amazing in the world cup, but I’d still prefer Fernando Torres, he Rooney and Ronaldo would be unstoppable with experience like Giggs and Scholesy backing them up, I really want Fernando, what about Robinho, he can’t get a first place at the moment!!! or instead of Hargreaves mr Cameronaise who is solid! There are a few players I’d like but no matter who Fergie buys, I have faith, he is GOD, so long as the new player isn’t a certain Juan Sebastian Veron!!
I believe Klose is a decent striker.. but the question is, is he ManU quality? Its interesting that you compare him with Ole though, coz he could probably take on Ole’s mantle when he finally hangs up his boots, but a huge proposition for the future he is not. Fans would still prefer Torres, but somebody like Klose wouldnt be a bad second choice.. we urgently need an out and out striker to backup Saha, with Larsson only a very short term patchup job. The striker situation at the club sure is a tricky one.. it’ll be interesting to see how SAF deals with it.
i think that Miroslav klose is a great player.. but he is to old.. if we buy robinho and torres.. and owen hargreaves.. the team will be perfect.. the best we have ever seen.. ronaldo and robinho on the wings, carrick and owen hargreaves on the midtfield.. they are gonna make the hard work getting the ball back, making all the tackles and they are also very good passing players.. and with rooney laying just behind torres.. nothing would ever be able to stop that offensive-abilities!
Shouldn’t go for Klose!! It will be disasterous for ManU. He’s damn good but ManU plays differently, in fact he’s kind of a Chelsea striker - sit and wait for that good long ball or that insidious Lampard cross….. but ManUs game is a lot more fluid and grounded. You’re already seeing a star from Bundesliga struggling, so in my opinion, go for an agile La Liga player. Torres, in fact, sounds much better for ManU, so so SO much better that I hope Torres won’t go to ManU hehe :p
I wonder, did this article appearing on NewsNow kick off all the rumours i am seeing now!
ps - i added Juve in my comment! ;D
Guys, honestly i think it’s hard for any striker to just walk into our team now…Torres’s game is much like Roon..Adu too,if we sign him up…and Klose and Treze are pretty much slow V-Man similar too,but the latter has better close control…just look at Saha,he took a while as of most past United striker…except Ruud and Roon of course, but those guys, what can we say right…We need a sharp and fast striker, young would be a bonus…not much quality out in the market currently though…Of course Podolski would certainly be up there…double Munchen swoop anyone???
Any club in their right mind should be trying to get Klose. He is a great finisher and his style of play is well-suited to the Premiership
tda is on the money there. Klose is an exeptional player with striking ability of the highest order. He is a highly adaptive player and at the peak of his game. He is very multi-skilled and can play as a target-man, out and out striker, hold up play, or go at it. My money would be on Klose. And age? Common lads, I remember a certain Teddy trotting up from London at this age (later even) and not being too shabby for us. Klose will surely earn his keep.
Azar your far from serious….Werder Bremen are one of Europe’s most fluid sides and Klose scores shitloads for them He would thrive in any style this fellow.
For me if we don’t land Torrees, Klose is the next best thing
PS: Azar Ballack is struggling simply becasue he is in teh worng postion. So is Lampard by the way. If Lampard was put behind the strikers once again and Ballack was allowed to come from the deep on the left, like Essien does on the right, Chelsea would be back to their rampant best
2-3 years for 15m pounds yeah…I don’t mind paying that. Especially if Klose is the striker who could win you the Premiership and/or Champions League in those 2-3 years. What would be the financial payoff of that?
good pace, great finisher. and cheap.. go for Darrent Bent. we need a backup winger for Giggs, and i think Ashley Young of Watford is a good bargain.. both teams (Charlton and Watford) are likely to get relegated..and these two players will be available by next summer.. i really believed we can lift the trophy this year with the players that we have.. if we could add Owen Hargreaves, then definitely the title is ours..
Keith: To be honest I’ve only seen 5-6 Werder matches in my life and my opinion was based on that :p so you’re probably right. But even last night when I saw Werder play Barca, I didn’t see any fluid game!
I think SAF should go for the double-swoop of Tevez - Mascherano. Their value should have dropped considerably because of:
a) their current performance
b) MSI / West Ham ‘non-takeover’
They are however, still class. I think Teves will also be a good backup to Rooney. As things stand, if Rooney is out, we’re pretty much f’d.
I was thinking… what if SAF were to experiment with Heinze as a holding midfielder?
If it works, there will be no need to get another midfielder, and, he can keep both Heinze and Evra happy. He sure has the stamina, enthusiasm and tackling ability to perform that job.
Yes Karl, thats a brilliant idea,Heinzes a tiger tackler plus his defensive capabilities are quite adept too…and he’s not too short for aerial battle too…superb
But back to the Klose talk, yeah he’s probably good enough for us,but i don’t think he wants to come just to be used sparingly…the lads pretty ambitious ya know…anyway Keith,Azars right,i’ve been watching live matches of the BundesLiga for years now,and Klose is an exceptional target man, nothing more…
Podolski - I don’t think Bayern will ever sell him. They’d sell Hargreaves first.
Tevez - too similar to Rooney, and United won’t accept an MSI style deal. He’d be a good addition though, surely.
Darren Bent? You’ve got to be kidding me. We need a finisher, we’ve already got the pace and movement in Saha.
Trezeguet/Ibrahimovic - hell no. Juve won’t sell.
Tauren - yes, I was surprised myself to see ClubCall Sports and EatSleepSport pick it up and run with it. Ijjits
Ahmed you’re right,Hunters probably be the best option after Torres, without the complications too…anyway Dutch clubs are known to be selling clubs…so yeah hopefully we’ll get em and see how good he really is…
In this manU team and the way they play.. any striker will fit well in the attacking power.. Klose and defoe is a great option with klose the experience and defoe the quick feet, Torres is just too hard to predict, Huntelaar is too young to make an impact.
