Juventus are preparing a mega-money bid to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to several reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Tutto Sport claim that Juventus already have an agreement in place with Higuain and now hoping to negotiate the Argentine’s £78 million release clause with fellow Serie A club Napoli.

The Naples-based club were reluctant to sell their star striker all summer but are now hoping to acquire Higuain’s buy-out clause in full following Juventus’ strong desire to sign the former Real Madrid forward.

The 28-year-old sensational scored 38 league goals last season to equal Gino Rossetti’s 87-year-old record for most goals in an Italian top-flight campaign.

Reports suggest that Higuain has agreed a four-year deal with the 2016 Scudetto champions and will earn £7.5 million per year after his potential move to Turin.

Arsenal appear to have dealt another major transfer flow since the Gunners were thought to be keen to sign Higuain after Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy snubbed his proposed move to the Emirates earlier this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will now reportedly turn his attention to persuade either Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette or Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi to bolster his attack for next season.

Juventus are well placed financially to pay Higuain’s £78 million release clause but it further increases speculations over Paul Pogba’s potential return to Manchester United this summer.
