Spain international Juan Mata says that he is following Pedro’s reported transfer move to Manchester United with close interest.

Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona. The 28-year-old forward has agreed personal terms offered to him, and it’s up to the two clubs now, to sort out a deal, which is thought to be in the region of €30m.

Reports emerged in the British press that Premier League Champions Chelsea are plotting a late move to hijack the deal, although Jose Mourinho himself admitted in May that the Blues weren’t interested in the Barcelona forward.

Juan Mata said an interview with Radio Cope: “I follow all the rumours that come out (about Pedro joining United) but it’s a personal decision that Pedro – and the club – has to make.”

The Spaniard has also commented on the ongoing David de Gea transfer saga, saying the Manchester United goal keeper is pretty relaxed with the situation.

He added: “The truth is he’s relaxed.  Anyone that knows him he’s a naturally very relaxed, calm and that’s how he’s dealing with this situation.  He’s training really well and being professional as always.”

Manchester United have made it clear that they won’t sell De Gea for less than 40m. He wasn’t picked for United’s two league matches so far, and really no one has any idea when will he return to the squad, if at all.

Real Madrid aren’t willing to pay that money, rather they would wait to sign him on free next season. The situation is far from being ideal, but good to hear that De Gea is still carrying out his job in a professional manner.
