Jozy Altidore With The US Olympics Team

Football fanatics in Europe would dismiss the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States as second-rate at best that embraces faded starts of European football for ludicrously large amount of cash. Well, to be frank, this notion is not entirely wrong but there’s no doubt that in the US, the players do play football and train as much hard and foster as lofty a dream as any footballer on Europe or South America does. Even if the Yanks may consider football as soccer.

The latest Jozy Atidore column in the New York Times’ Goal blog is certainly an immense attestation about the similarities that exist among all the footballers anywhere in the world. The New York Red Bulls striker might have had his club duty over for season as the MLS waits for a new year but he still has international commitment to adhere to. And that’s precisely what he is up to at the moment.

Only 18, Altidore is already being touted as the next generation of American soccer superstars who would help consolidate the United States firmly on the world football map. That Altidore is trying his best to do this has no iota of suspicion over it at all. At the moment Altidore is busy sharpening his skills at the national training camp in California where, unlike in several European nations, there are two sessions per day, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon some time after lunch. Altidore is inspired by national team Coach Bob Bradley’s innovative ideas and his boosting up the current crop of players to alter the traditional style of football exhibited by the US players.

But Altidore is enjoying all this very much. He has already been to South Africa where he was gifted his first senior international cap for the USA against the home nation. He came on as a substitute in the 65th minute and this was just three days after he turned 18.

Altidore and his team mates are scheduled to fly over to China this Friday and although Jozy Altidore doesn’t deny that the whole trip and traveling across time zones appear somewhat daunting, he doesn’t complain at all. Instead he is one young lad who is ready to play football anytime and anywhere and it is this spirit that more than anything else is what the entire United states requires to succeed in international as well as club football.

Altidore is quite delighted to be in the US Olympics team and is optimistic about his football career. He hopes for good results in China and rest assured, the 18 year old US kid who has barely left high school is all eager to take the world by storm.
