Mourinho desperate to offload £175,000-per-week earning Chelsea player

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho set to perform another cull, as the Portuguese re-affirms that he needs to offload one of the foreigners in order to comply with the Champions League rules relating to home grown quota.

A sea-change approach taken by Chelsea in transfer dealings, where the financial model allows them to stay on course with FFP regulations while have fetched them profit without hampering the squad depth. They have sold players for either high price or didn’t renew contracts of veterans who were on high wages. For example, Chelsea sold Juan Mata, Kevin de Bruyne and David Luiz for nearly £100m combined, while have dispensed with the services of high wage-earners (yet club heroes) like Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole.

The same trend will likely to continue, as Mourinho wants to sell one or two foreigners from the squad. Chelsea can name 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in their official 25-man squads, but they have 18 players fighting for that place. According to reports from The Telegraph, Mourinho wants to offload £50m flop Fernando Torres, but not many clubs are willing to meet his £20m asking price, plus the Spaniard’s £175,000-a-week wages.

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are thought to be interested in taking their former player back at Calderon, while French giants Monaco are looking at his situation at his situation in case Radamel Falcao leaves.

Likewise the future of John Obi Mikel is also under threat, and should Chelsea fail to offload him and Torres, Mourinho will likely to sell Petr Cech. PSG are keen to sign him and are ready to submit a £10m bid for the 32-year-old.
