Mourinho desperate to offload £175,000-per-week earning Chelsea player

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho set to perform another cull, as the Portuguese re-affirms that he needs to offload one of the foreigners in order to comply with the Champions League rules relating to home grown quota.

A sea-change approach taken by Chelsea in transfer dealings, where the financial model allows them to stay on course with FFP regulations while have fetched them profit without hampering the squad depth. They have sold players for either high price or didn’t renew contracts of veterans who were on high wages. For example, Chelsea sold Juan Mata, Kevin de Bruyne and David Luiz for nearly £100m combined, while have dispensed with the services of high wage-earners (yet club heroes) like Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole.

The same trend will likely to continue, as Mourinho wants to sell one or two foreigners from the squad. Chelsea can name 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in their official 25-man squads, but they have 18 players fighting for that place. According to reports from The Telegraph, Mourinho wants to offload £50m flop Fernando Torres, but not many clubs are willing to meet his £20m asking price, plus the Spaniard’s £175,000-a-week wages.

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are thought to be interested in taking their former player back at Calderon, while French giants Monaco are looking at his situation at his situation in case Radamel Falcao leaves.

Likewise the future of John Obi Mikel is also under threat, and should Chelsea fail to offload him and Torres, Mourinho will likely to sell Petr Cech. PSG are keen to sign him and are ready to submit a £10m bid for the 32-year-old.

Wenger: I made a gamble on Chambers

  1. Please, sell Torres ,including Ramires that does not have ball control & his passes inaccurate .Who has the highest yellow/red cards last season that affect the blues immensely?Leave Mikel. He has been a good player for the blues even though he did have eyes for goals. He quards & intercept the ball from the opponent & he gives accurate passes more often than not.Mikel was underated. Why?

  2. Torres, mikel and ramires should go before the season starts. It’s nice doing business with them.

  3. sell torres..i like the guy but he is not good for business,i mean what type of a striker misses from 2 yards.this just shows that those kind of opportunites wll not be converted it torres is kept on.give the young english striker a chance to grow with chelsea.dont send him on loan witu drogba and diego around he wil learn alot..sell ramires keep mikel.

  4. Torres and Mikel should go, forget sentiment Mikel has nothing to offer the club again, let him look for another club so that he will have playing time, for Torres, I don’t think is fit enough in that squad, let him go and retain Lukaku cos he is a young player, the team will be OK wt Costa, schurle , Lukaku and legend Drogba.

  5. Please sell Torres he has failed the club,he costed us the league last season, please do something if it means lowering the price to allow the buyers to come,so it be

  6. Torres has not been worth the money….at 175000 a week he should have been sold last year.
Mikel is a good player and I would not like to see him go, Ramires has shown that he is fast on the contra but pass accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. What I fail to understand is that lukaku has not been given a chance yet. One penalty miss and he is out in the cold with morinho.

  7. Whats happening to Torres? Will Going to Seria A help? Is Chelsea not a place for him? Is he just another Failure? Is he having psychologic problems?
Brothers lets not give up on him yet. Chelsea may offload him but he may get form the next minute see Dzeko of Manchester City who wanted to leave but see his last season performance.
If I were Jose Mourinho I would play this guy as a midfielder and not forward.

  8. pls let give fernando torres another chance cos the guy has alot to offer for chelsea…..offload obi mikael nd ramirez

  9. True Blues. It just dat pple dnt understand smth,no matter how will like a player if does not play well as we xpect we will begins to dislike him gradually,i personally like torres dan any player in dat chelsea squard but pple has been complain abt him too much bcos of d way he fuck up at times. It will adviceable for him to quickly leave now it’s affect his future. For mikel issue, pls let them allow him to stay bcos atimes they might likely to have team like Barca,Bayern or any other strong opponent team to play in champion’s league and mikel can cover when chelsea is taking d lead.
