Jose Mourinho happy with Manchester United’s summer transfer business

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed the Red Devils are set to have a quiet week in the final week of the summer transfer window after suggesting that he is happy with the business done by his side.

The Portuguese tactician was appointed as United’s manager in May as he replaced Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford. Since his arrival, the Premier League giants have managed to complete four top quality signings this summer.

Mourinho helped United land defender Eric Bailly, who was his first signing at the club. The Ivory Coast international was followed by Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, former Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan and midfielder Paul Pogba. The latter rejoined United on a world-record fee of £89 million and was the fourth addition to the squad.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager has also allowed a few of the players leave, which includes loan and permanent transfers. Mourinho admitted that he has a squad necessary for this campaign and in case of need, he will turn the academy to promote young players into the first team squad.

“Twenty-three players is more than enough and, if you have a problem or an opportunity, then I have a few young players in the Academy that I will be more than happy to give an acceleration in their process,” Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by United’s official website.

“I like Cameron Borthwick-Jackson very much but he will go to Wolverhampton to play [on loan] because I have Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind to play left-back. These are the kind of decisions every club makes.

“I think we are going to have a very quiet week, not surrounded by helicopters waiting for someone to arrive or leave – I am more than happy with the squad I have.”

United travel to KCOM Stadium to face Hull City in the Premier League clash on Saturday. Like the Red Devils, the Tigers have also won the first two matches of the season, which includes a 2-1 win over Leicester City.
