I don't buy most of the "big club" bullshit. Both clubs are steeped in history, Sevilla have perhaps more avid fans (and the Sánchez Pizjuán holds more of them, by some 7,000) but Spurs undoubtedly has more fans across the world, are richer and has a greater history. Sevilla are in the Champions' League for the first time in their history - so how can they possibly be a "big club" in the sense in which Notts Forest and Leeds still view themselves to be?

Do I think Juande would have taken the job had he believed that he could have had a "top 4" job? No, of course not. But Spurs are not to be belittled.

Redondo - you may be right. These things are hard to quantify. I haven't done a survey of the fates of all of the teams with muslim players, but I do know that Abidal, Nasri, Benzema, Ben Arfa and a few others are not having such problems. But then I don't know who is and isn't fasting :-)

Defeat from Rovers aside, I doubt that Ramos will make miracles. For starters, it is obvious that he'll be running a relegation battle unless Spurs start winning now, which I highly doubt. Of course that come the end of season they'll be far higher on the table, but that's best that they can manage, and to achieve even that they have to start winning ASAP. And there is something very wrong with that team, don't know what, but something is. And about all that youngsters business... He won't be needing to find cheap and talented youngsters at Spurs, now will he. Unlike Sevilla, Spurs have a shitload of money, so Ramos will be able to choose among the big boys. Besides, Spurs currently need much more then young prospects.

Not the first time you've been a complete dick KingOfZamunda, huh?

Fair enough Hugo, Spurs may have more successful but that doesn't mean they're a "bigger" club. They're not in the Champions League and haven't won anything in a long time.

Steckelmacher:

One of the reasons for Sevilla's decline this early in the season is also because of Kanouté, Keita, Koné and Boulahrouz all holding Ramadan[The Muslims fasting, not eating from Sinrise to Sunset.]. I believe that this had alot to do with it.

That's not the first time I've read utter tosh posted by Nerazzuri. Fair point Hugo, Sevilla are a great side, and I'm no Spurs fan, but Spurs definitely have heritage and as you rightfully ointed out have been more successful.

And he's in the last year of his contract - not like he is rescinding a newly signed 4 year deal.

So wait - a club which has won 9 major trophies in its history is bigger than one which has almost that many FA Cups alone? (8).

Yes, Sevilla have a good squad, but why shouldn't Ramos want a new challenge?
