January Premiership Transfers - Full List

Full list of January’s Premiership transfers

Is it just me, or was this January transfer season woefully quiet?

I’m not talking about the normal banter (where Bale was linked with Real Madrid and Micah Richards touted as an 18m buy) but real transfers.

None of the top four made any significant splurges into the transfer market. Arsenal earned around 5m thanks to Stokes, Larsson and Lauren going out, plus with part of Upson fee going to them. Liverpool brought in a handful of loan deals plus Arvalo Arbeloa, but considering the way they had brought in players last summer (and with the takeover not complete) they were never going to splash 10m+.

Manchester United stuck with just Larsson (Hargreaves and Bale will have to wait till the summer, so will Klose and Torres), while Chelsea tried and failed to bring in Tal Ben Haim (in retrospect, that’s probably a good thing for them).

Tottenham brought in Taraabt and let go of Davenport and Davids, Newcastle got in Gooch, Villa brought in Young and West Ham went shopping for their lives.

But all in all, a quiet transfer window, where the biggest deals happened in Real Madrid - Ronaldo moving to Milan (18 months, 5m, Oliviera going on loan for 6 months the other way) and Becks signing for LA Galaxy for an amazing amount of money (so much that I’ve actually forgotten how much).

It was almost as if Premiership teams (most, not all) had accepted their fate for this season and were waiting for the next.

Aresenal is my time whether am a paid up member or not is not the issue at hand. I am a fan or ever supporter. At least my neighboor and my entire place know. Wenger is a very good manager and the players are good too. A rsenal, however, needs more steel in the defence and middle feild now that it has got a new goalkeeper. But more so it needs additonal merciless strikers to score goals against opponents without considering feelings of the fans of the opposing teams.

Arsenal is at my heart,i love the club and our coah too.many people have commented on the departure of henry but i was not suprised because when Viera left we received the same critisms.however,we need to strenghen our defence and get another stricker.also iam happy our beloved stricker i think he will be of great use to the club since has aconstant execellent scoring record.i officially welcome him to the club.
lastly i think arsenal,i eat arsenal,i speak arsenal and i will continue being an advocate for the club even though iam not aregistered fun.

  4. Arsenal is one of the best teams in the world. I love to watch them play. They played excellent in their pre-season games and friendlies. I think arsenal will not do badly this season even though they are without henry. However, i think arsenal need a right midfielder because they need to replace ljumberg. But some people think that eboue has filled in ljumberg’s boots.
