VDV is key player in Hamburg..and actually he is doing well in Madrid but with the likes of Kaka, Ronaldo, and Madrid is playing wide attacking, he cannot compete in..VDV for sure can cover in attacking midfield in Liverpool..Then we can count on Gerrard as second striker wit torres upfront. we have mascherano that can cover defensive from the centre..all i want to say is, there is no need to play Lucas..he does not help either in attacking or defensive..totally rubbish..

VDV has done little since leaving Ajax?

Whats his goal to games ratio at Hamburg again? He practically carried the team singlehandedly!

I thought he did decent at Real Madrid; he was at least as good as Snejder before he went to Madrid. Now its hard to say. But as people say, whilst form is temporary, class is permanent.

And VDV is class.

Gary,
they have 13 million as of right now to spend in the january window. That is enough for us to place a patch in one of our many weak positions, and the most important in my opinion is getting someone to take some of the burden off of Torres.
We have a pretty solid depth and hopeful potential at midfield. We have Benayoun, Riera, Gerrard, Aquilani, and a hopeful break out winger in Babel.
The defense yes is a little shaky, but we are also missing Agger and Aurelio, and i believe for now we can make due with what we have until they are healthy. Which Agger has already made substantial progress and Aurelio is getting closer, and will most likely be fine come January.
That leaves us with a open spot up front, we made an attempt numerous times in Crouch and Keane to give Torres help up front, in hope that we could produce a world class strike force, but it ended up failing.
Which is why we must pursue some type of forward, i agree with you on missing Carlton Cole as the perfect signing for our budget, but if this talks with Prince Faisal's investment firm start back up we could have a great addition of money to the fund which would put us in prime position for at least two of the above mentioned.

Aguero earns £6.5m a year at Atletico so who can afford his salary, maybe Chelsea, definately Man City, not liverpool.

Huntelaar has done nothing at both Real and Milan. I'm surprised his name in mentioned before say Carlton Cole.

VDV is another who has done very little since leaving Ajax.

Its ok listing some players who you'd like to sign, but really you have to ask where Liverpool's money is? I can't see them signing anyone unless they sell maybe Babel, but who else in the squad would be expendible but also bring in decent sums of money, Liverpool just simply dont have the squad depth.

If man city had taken full advantage they'd be a long way from the top 4, will Gerrard and Torres stick around if they are faced with the Europa League? Because one thing is for sure, Man City have their cheque book loaded and will only further strengthen themselves in January!!

we need a striker and a good winger, should get rid of all the dead wood and then ign aguero, adam johnson would be a good signing for free in the summer as we need to fill a quota of homegrown players

Will the government waiver a work permit for Hernanes then? A one-off exception to help the institution that is Liverpool FC, perhaps? Unfortunately, Football Manager-esque dreams have a habit of being unworkable in real life.

As for Huntelaar - He and Pato don't even play in the same position! Pato does his work out right: a role he can fulfil with a forward or attacking midfielder alongside him, flanking the lone striker - the berth for which Huntelaar receives competition from Inzaghi and Borriello. The Dutchman's had plenty of opportunities, but has been sloppy, dozy and anything but lethal.

Yeah, the bandages are a must...
The squad is running thin... If Nemeth is around, perhaps Benitez should start him? This young guy is scoring everywhere he plays... and Benitez loans him out... What did the young guy do wrong?? Step on his toes??!
Yes.. I agree with throwing the cash (if we have any) on to Aguero the wonder boy... for Hernanes, I have to disagree... yet to hear as much of him vs Aguero...
