Reports from Italy claim that Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o is close to a summer exit from the London club with Chinese side Guangzhou interested in the Cameroonian. Guangzhou’s manager and former World Cup winning coach Marcelo Lippi is determined to bring Eto’o to to the Nouveau Riche Chinese outfit.

Eto’o’s future was already in doubt after the 33 year old launched a verbal tirade on manager Jose Mourinho branding him a fool and a puppet. Mourinho had earlier questioned the striker’s lack of fitness and also doubted the former Barcelona and Inter Milan player’s age.

Eto’o though hasn’ held back himself. “Contrary to what a puppet says about my age, I am still physically fit. At 33, I feel real good. I have proven that I could do better than youths.” Eto scored 12 goals this season Chelsea and also celebrated a goal like a geriatric in protest of Mourinho’s comments.

The striker will lead his country’s charge at the World Cup in Brazil in June and fully expects that he can play in the top flight in the coming season.

Another Italian site Calciomercato also claim that Roma are interested in Eto’o with Gervinho set to leave the Wolves in the summer.

The story suggests that the twice Champions League winner would love a return to Italy and with Roma in the Champions League next season, Eto’o would want to join former Inter Milan team mate Maicon in Rudi Garcia’s side.
