In a shocking turn of events, reports from Italy suggest that Chelsea are contemplating a massive €32m offer for Napoli winger Jose Callejon. It is believed that Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign the player who flourished under him at Real Madrid.

The 27 year old has enjoyed a stunning season at Napoli after signing from Real Madrid last summer,  scoring 15 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 45 appearances for the Partenopei. The Spaniard is adept as playing either as a winger or a supporting striker would ceaselessly fit into Chelsea’s system, thanks to his unparalleled vision and bursts of pace on the wings.

Rafa Benitez could ill afford to lose a player of his quality but with Chelsea planning to table such a massive offer, it might turn the heads of biggies at the Stadion San Paolo.

The reports have suggested that Caelljon earns €3.5m at the Italian club but the Blues from Stamford Bridge are willing to double his wages, should he switch loyalties in the summer.

Napoli too, would make a profit of €25m if Callejon leaves and it is believed that Benitez would then have an eye for Madrid’s Angle Di Maria, the Argentine who has also had a sublime season at the Santiego Bernebeu. Benitez might also have an interest to involve Chelsea players of his liking in the deal.

However, we are not giving too much credence to this story. Callejon is a good player, no doubt but the money quoted above is ridiculous.
