Gary Neville is a fantastic player but like Giggs and Scholes he is getting old, and Wes Brown, aged 28, is no realistic replacement for him. Wes Brown wants first team football regularly, so let him go. We should be looking to find a good young right back. Micah richards would be nice if City would let him go, perhaps they could take Brown instead :). Sounds like a good trade to me, Micah is still in contract talks with City and i'm sure he would be alot happier playing for a decent club with a chance of actually winning something. He has, if im correct, 18 months left on his contract and City are not going to risk him walking for free at the end of that period, so chances are they will take the cash.

I have absolutely no idea what Wes is thinking. I'm sure his agent is whispering £80k a week wages in his ear or something, but he will never have it better than he does at United. Plus it's his home, he's been there since he was a teenager! He's got maybe 2 years left in him at the top of his game, and he'll more than likely start at least 1 of those as Manchester United's starting Right Back. What more does he want?

Brown is a very solid center back but i dont think he could make Agger stay on bench due to the way Agger has played at Pool, you just dont change players if they work well and Agger/Carragher did great last season.

His future is at United

Ahmed - no way Brown would play ahead of Agger at Liverpool. Agger is an outstanding defender and Liverpool have looked dodgy at the back every time he has been missing.

Brown would be first choice center-back in most teams outside the top four (and would probably pip Agger / Hyppia / Hobbs for the second center-back spot at Pool). Newcastle and Tottenham both would pay him loads to shore up their defensive troubles, perhaps his agent has been sounded out by one of those clubs (could be Pool too).

And Brown's pretty much first-choice for this season, considering that Neville's not going to play much this season and if things continue, not much next season either.

i think Brown is over estimating his own worth due to Neville's injury problems. the truth is that whilst he has done well since Neville's injury he must mental if he thinks he is good enough to attract an offer from another team (Newcastle?) which will beat the 50 grand per week utd have supposedly offered him.
