Good subject, I liken Atletico to a side like Tottenham Hotspur, a team destined to challenge the elite, however when this challenge will materialise is the real question.

Good article but far to wordy.

Great article very funny. I haven't been watching Primera this season (only Barca and Real games), so I can't comment much, but I will say that with the lineup they should be able to do that after all Valencia sucks and there is nobody alse. Really funny article so keep up the good work

I like them. I haven't seen them play much really but they rarely let me down with my UEFA cup betting! That said, the last two times, against Espanyol (down to 9 men, I believe) they lost 2-1 at home, and recently conceded a 90th minute goal against Granada in the Copa Del Rey to snatch £160 away from me!! Perhaps I should find a new team for my accumulators lol.

On a more meaningful note, I think the likes of Forlan and Simao were excellent signings.

A few points:

1. Don't much care for the orgasm metaphor. It doesn't really serve any functional or descriptive purpose.

2. I agree that selling Torres was an excellent move, since it relieved pressure both on player and club. Not convinced by all of the summer signings, however. As you mention, the defence badly needs re-working.

3. Aguirre doesn't seem to have found his theoretical "best team". Atleti may have been great to watch, but they've been awfully inconsistent, as has Aguirre's team selection.

4. I think that Aguero bears very little resemblance to Maradona, either in stature or in footballing style. What Aguero is, essentially, is a new Romário (which is great news for football, as there are few Romário incarnates in world football). He has the same stocky physique, the same fiery temperament, the same "fox-in-the-box" attributes, including an explosive shot with little backlift. Aguero rarely takes players on the way that Messi or Maradona did. I feel a little for Atleti, since if they don't make the Champions League there will undoubtedly be a bidding war over Aguero himself, after the constant Torres hullabaloo.
