I never get how anyone can say that ANY cup is irrelevant. There are so few tangible rewards in football, that if you were only content with the league title or the champions league, you'd be a depressed fan.

Personally, I find it to be the people who are only concerned with the "big" competitions to be what's wrong with sport. If your team winning a match (be it first round Carling Cup or rainy Monday evening in Sunderland) then you need to quit watching.

Yes the FA Cup is relevant, and if you start moaning about "only" winning it, there are 761 other clubs that would love to have it.

I really hope, that the FA cup still important to Chelsea, if the players dont, get a tickeling down their back, when they enter Wembley stadion, with the two teams fans singing and shouting, the atmosphere, the tradition, when the players get line up before the game, then the dont know what football really is about, and then they do not deserve to play that final. its defently not just another day at the job, its 1 big party. And we Chelsea fans ( I hope ) se it as 1 of the highligth, when we are so lucky to be in that final, remember not to far back in time, we were a very cup minded team, and a place in the final, was to be honest the best we could hope for, so this is big. I would give my rigth arm, to be with you blue ( Yellow ) boys at Wembley today, but Im stuck here i Denmark, but the good thing is, that I got the house to my self, so i can hear all the loud Chelsea music I want, i can drink a couple of cold beers, and I can see the match without being disturbed by my to wonderful boys, so it will be a good day ( hopefuly ) I wish all my Chelsea mates the best, and hope you can cheer the lads up to victory. good match Keep the Blue Flag flying very very high today, nomatter what the result should be.

Great article mate.
For me it does matter if it were with year's troubles or if we would have won both premiere league and Champions league. It's an intense tournament with great matches to deliver.

Great Article Kris!

Really good points, I would argue that the elimination of the Cup of Cup Winners also reduced the importance of the FA Cup.

The FA Cup is at its best in the 3rd and 4th Rounds when big and smalls teams are thrown together and provide many great encounters.

The further the tournament goes on generally the more I lose interest. I'd rather watch a Premier League top of the table clash between Man U and Chelsea than in the FA Cup. The Champions League is the ultimate cup competiton and provides me with all the Cup magic that I need!!

bugger at least two sentances make no sense whatsoever, not sure what happened there thats not what the draft looked like grrrrrr.

Hope the article still makes its point though that despite the degredation by the others, the fans are still up for the cup!
