Is Martin Jol quitting Tottenham?

Over the last two days, reports have been rife that Martin Jol is on the verge of leaving Tottenham Hotspur, but is there any truth in this?
A whole host of newspapers and websites stated yesterday that the club ordered an emergency board meeting to discuss the future of Jol, after he told them he was ready to leave White Hart Lane.
Today, various newspapers have reported that the Spurs Manager has already agreed a £4-million pay-off, in anticipation of his seemingly imminent departure, regardless of whether he jumps or is pushed.
However, where have these reports come from? Well of course it is no secret that Daniel Levy offered Jol’s job to Sevilla Coach Juande Ramos, and since then things have never been the same for Jol.
BBC Sport asked him how he felt when reading about himself in the paper virtually everyday…old Tony Soprano nonchalantly replied “I’m used to it, you know?”
Unfortunately, the shock departure of Jose Mourinho from Chelsea has done little to help Jol’s position, as many bookmakers touted Tottenham as the Portuguese’s next English destination.
However, as Mourinho has removed his children from their London school and openly said his next destination is abroad, we must believe the man when he speaks.
Similarly, Martin Jol has quashed this exit talk, firstly addressing the Mourinho-as-next-Spurs-Manager story by stating “Daniel Levy phoned me to say the report was rubbish and hoped I would be with him next year,” said Jol. “He is always good to me, always backing me.”
“Everybody is committed to the cause and the cause is to get higher up in the league and make a success of the season.”
“Doing this is dominating my thoughts at the moment, so, as you would imagine, I was a little bit surprised to hear that one newspaper was suggesting that I was on the verge of quitting my job today. What a load of rubbish!”
Surely we must take the man’s word at face value, and remember that he is not one to openly lie to the press, certainly not about something so big an issue as his job as Tottenham Manager.
He is far too grateful to the fans for virtually keeping him in the job - when many of those around him wanted him out - to quit a club he deeply loves.
If Martin Jol does not end the season at Tottenham, I would like to believe that he was relieved of his duty rather than departing of his own accord.
Either way, if results do not improve soon you can bet the pressure will increase even more on Jol, so lets just hope we start winning as I’m sick of reading about whether Jol will still be manager after the next game or not.

get rid of him, start fresh now that it early and get someone who has a tactical nouse, whats realy winding me up is that robbie keane is keeping defoe out, how on earth can that be possible, and then jol says robbie has better leadership qualities, well, firstly defoe has better finishing qualities and is direct rather than robbie who slows our game down and loses counter attacking oportunities due to him holding the ball too long, secondly berbatov needs a player who will be pushing the line and defoe is good at it whereas robbie isnt, infact he sits too deep and thats why we lack when going forward and if jol cant see that then he has to go, robbie should be used as a sub when we are 2 goals up for example, by doing this we have an extra kind of attacking midfielder who has the ability to create a chance and also to apply pressure in a way where it will be effective to help us through the remainding of the game, thats how it should be done, robbie keane is not a striker hes a floater, he cannot be starting otherwise we are like a 451 team and that is too negative
small club anyway, who cares?
now to our midfield problem, in the middle should be malbranque, he can tackle, drible and pass, he will make a big difference there, forget jenas, jol has to decide whether to play huddlestone or zokora with him,id prefer zokora as hes more agile, lennon on the right and bail on the left, defoe and berbatov upfront, now that is a balanced team, where we would have malbranque hussling and bussling the midfield and both zokora and steed can run with it if they had to and one will sit back and hold and vice versa, its so obvious that steed can hold onto the ball and win it back easily aswell, he works very hard and i cant beleive why hes wasted out of position on the wings, unbeleivable, honestly jol hasnt got a clue
A cat has 9 lives! I wonder how many does Jol has? Time is running out mate.
nick the yid….you apparently have it in for our robbie..since when has defoe become a better team player???id rather have someone who busts a gut for tottenham than someone who sulks and doesnt chase the ball….its a team game 11 players and all that…if defoe plays its 10 +1 …
Tottenham are obviously plotting to get rid of him,at the end of the day he’s not that special as a manager.I reckon we’ve seen the best of him so maybe he should jump before he is pushed.
“he deeply loves” - you make it sound like he’s about to leave his wife before she can run off with the toyboy first.
And he looks more like Barry Evans RIP from Eastenders than Tony Soprano.
SMALL CLUB NEAR ARSENAL, YOU’RE JUST A SMALL CLUB NEAR ARSENAL.
I am 25 and I have been a Spurs for atleast 18 years.Under Martin Jol we have qualified for the Uefa Cup two years running through our league posistion which hasn’t been the case since I started to support spurs. The board would be foolish to sack a manager who has taken the club to a level we have not been at since the early 80’s.If they do get rid of Jol it would be a major mistake in my veiw.Back Martin fellow Spurs fans,Dont let the chairman ruin a good thing.Thank you
