If these players close down, then you can apply pressure higher up the pitch, leading to greater goal scoring chances, should the defender get tackled. (At this point the clueless commentator usually blames the defender for dallying on the ball, rather than praising the work ethic of your team).</description>

So defenders that are not good on the ball is important in attacking areas? In other words the &quot;defender&quot; can also be a striker and when they lose the ball they must chase/win the ball back even if it is in the final third and not let the midfield/defense win it back for them. is that what that point means?</description>
