Is Dimitar Berbatov looking for that “dream” move to Real Madrid?

"Cheer up, mate. Happens to us all."

The sight of Dimitar Berbatov sulking around the pitch/bench/training ground has been a defining image of English football for the past year. And we all knew exactly the reason why he was being such a grumpy Bulgar at Tottenham. Now he has his “dream” move to Manchester United, why is he still as miserable as sin? Surely life on those massive wages and Champions League football cannot be that bad.

The striker scored his first goals for Manchester United last night in the Champions League victory over AaB Aalborg last night, and yet the nearest he got to a display of emotion after breaking his duck for his “dream” club was a bit of a smirk.

The only things we can think of are:

1. It was all so easy for him and put on a plate for him by defenders that the goals were not worth celebrating.
2. He will only celebrate when he is wearing the true red shirt of Manchester United and not a substandard blue one.
3. He thinks he looks like that famous Eric Cantona celebration when King Eric just stood there as if to say: “You all know I’m the man.” Berbatov just ends up looking like he is thinking: “You all know I’m a moron.”
4. The wind changed at White Hart Lane one day and his face is stuck looking like that.
5. Goals against Aalborg just aren’t worth celebrating. Only goals against proper teams are worthy of Berbabrations.
6. He is angling for the dream move to Real Madrid. The move to Old Trafford was to compare notes with Cristiano Ronaldo.
7. He misses Tottenham. He has made a terrible mistake and he wants them to take him back.

Any other theories?

Why the useless article? I mean, we all know the guy, we all saw the match, so WHY? How was it in any way helpful? Let’s see… Juan Roman Riquelme, great player, lots of goals, lots more of stunning passes, and the guy doesn’t exactly look like a 17 year old at prom night. But that’s the way they are. Great players, that do great things, but don’t do a backflip every time they score, so… what’s so wrong about it?

I concur, the Article was Stupid, and Berbatov has today said he was still irritated with himself for missing the first chance PLUS considering the opposition and how he scored the first goal not much to celebrate. I’m sure when he scores against Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool/R.Madrid/Barcelona etc he’ll be MUCH MUCH more expressive in his celebrations..

I agree with these guys ^^^. Don’t get were your going with this. After all, having been at United for a dead on a month it is painstakingly obvious to everyone in the game that The Berb wants to leave to play for Real Madrid. Also, you could see in his face the relief when he buried his first goal. Emotionless my ass. There was more emotion in his face last night than interesting points in this article.

I think he had personal plans for a lot more goals and he is a bit angry with himself for still being so far from the mark. Berbi could not sincerily celebrate until he has payed off his inner debt of sorts. And he is not an actor.

You lot need to pick your toys up and put them back in your prams. Its not intended to be serious, case in point:

‘He misses Tottenham. He has made a terrible mistake and he wants them to take him back’

I’d wager he would’ve rather gone back to a Bulgarian hovel than stick it out at that basement outfit, let alone go back.

Obviously he’s not serious but you can hardly call this article entertaining, funny, constructive or a point for discussion.

    8. He actually signed for Manchester City on deadline day, only to be sent undercover by Mark Hughes and the Abu Dhabi group to send United down.

The only reasons he scored last night was to stop the Sold Trafford crew getting suspect.

Maybe it is his personality…tall, silent type ( introvert) kind of guy?…2 the other posters: cool guys, surely u recognise a bit of humour…or does Manu current ranking in the premier league rendered u all paranoid.? But, I do have 2 agree- it’s kinda stupid that article

Its not stupid. Its. A. Joke.

Everyone knows Dimitar Berbatov is an arrogant and frankly deluded individual with regards to his self worth within a team. The way he acted at Tottenham as soon as a move was on the cards was disgraceful, so why should people suddenly think he’s become a different person since his move? The man clearly thinks hes above and beyond but the same fans who’d have agreed with me now are taking the offensive, i.e touchy United fans.

I look forward to watching his and Permatan’s attempts to out scowl eachother this season and continue to do so on a plane to Madrid in about 10 months.

AAB seriously??? Saw how Cantona jumped around like a high school cheerleader when he got the winner against Liverpool in the FA cup final? Wait for the right team right moment and you will see Junior High all over again this time in the form of the Bulgar as you so nicely put it.

Article – Okay, mildly funny but overall pointless.
Secondly, I don’t think Berba can be compared to Cantona in any way. I don’t think there is a player alive who is worthy of being compared to Cantona. The thing about great players is that they are incomparable.

Berba has a certain style of play which comes across as lazy. Thats just his style of play people. So he didn’t strip down to his undies and backflip the length of the field when he scored but damn, is that such a big problem?

Luke Smith – I take it you’ve never read a stupid joke?

What a pointless article. All people are different and as everybody should know by now mr. Berbatov is really serious and dedicated guy and ofcourse he has given his reasons in interview already. Come on lay off the guy and let his magic on field do the talking!

    Guys, Guys.

    Chill out.

    1. Article is ignorant.
    2. If this was such a joke, Luke is getting really cranky over nothing.

Basically yes berbatov behaved ridiculously at Spurs. But if you were in a job and wanted to go to a better job but were told no, you would sulk too.

As for united’s standing in the table. Big woooop we have a game in hand and I promise we won’t loose to Hull.

I am only cranky over what appears to be a great misperception from some near sighted United suppporters.

Nice one regarding the reference to Hull! I’ll give you that one, as I have had my mates give me several hundred over the past week.

i know this is late but well – as u can c im not a united fan, far from it really, but i still think this is kind of stupid. just coz he’s quiet, and doesnt strip down to his briefs and open his mouth in a scream wide enough to fit an elephant in when he scores, doesnt make him arrogant or annoying in any way!! it’s just the way he is alright? leave him alone – we shudnt judge him – u dont even know the guy, give him the benefit of the doubt!!!
