Inter Milan (Internazionale) v Sampdoria
Italian Serie A
San Siro – Milan, Italy
20 February 2010 – 19:45 GMT

Inter Milan hosts Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A on Saturday, February 20, 2010.

Inter Milan v Sampdoria Preview

Internazionale currently lead the Serie A table by seven points and on their way to winning the Scudetto for the fifth straight season. Sampdoria is in 5th and tied on points with 4th place Napoli in the league table.

Inter will be the favorites in the match and have allowed a league low 20 goals and have a +20 goal difference. Milito leads the club with 14 goals in league play followed by Samuel Eto’o with 8 goals. Injuries for the match include Mario Balotelli and Davide Santon.

Sampdoria have struggled on the road with a 4-1-7 record and -13 goal difference. They will be without one of their top players, forwad Antonio Cassano, who is out due to injury. The visitors will not be favored in the match and would be realistic to aim for a draw.

Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho knows that they can’t afford a let down even though they are the favorites in the match.

“There are many teams who change their set-up and attitude when they face Inter, and Sampdoria are an example of this,” he said. “When we went to Genoa they played with a diamond and they had never done it before.

“And then there are always teams who look like they are playing friendlies but when they play against Inter it’s like they are playing in the World Cup.

“So I am only thinking about how we will play, not them. I don’t know if it’s better to face them with or without Cassano, but in general it’s hard to play against a team full of confidence, like they are now.”

Sampdoria won 1-0 when the teams met in September in the Serie A.
