legendary doesnt do this man justice.sensational player, one of my favourites by a long shot.to play at that level for that long is incredible.i will be lucky to see another defender come close to him in my lifetime

I’m Inter’s fan but I have a great respect for Maldini. He may not be the greatest, but he will surely be remembered as one of the most remarkable and consistent performers of all time.

It’ a sad time for Italian football. All the best Italian players are retiring soon or have already: Totti, Maldini, Cannavaro, del Piero, Gattuso, Inzaghi, and Vieri; even Toni and Nesta will retire in a few years. The Italian national team has ceased to be a force in international tournaments but in five to ten years will return with the younger generation stepping up.

him and hyypia will go down in history as legendary defenders…

  6. I’m a Liverpool supporter and can easily say that Maldini is a greater player and defender than Hyypia. You cannot compare the two, simple as that. It’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Holden.

  7. he is the greatest defender that ever lived. His long career is a proof of his superior athletic ability even at this age he was able to compete at a high level. My idol as a player. I named my son after him Maldini the one and only.
