How do Bolton fans rate Kevin Nolan?
Kevin Nolan is a prominent figure at Bolton and while he’s captain, the opinion is split on his value to the side and his contributions on the pitch.
Several Bolton fans have in the past blasted Nolan and wished him out, and to be honest I don’t remember a single comment from a Bolton fan praising Kevin Nolan’s role or contributions to the Bolton squad.
So here’s today’s question for Bolton fans - how do you rate Kevin Nolan?
Answers in the comments, please.
- Mr Ferguson, Please Bring Nolan To Manchester United
- Tottenham vs Bolton - Same old, same old story
- Can Bolton get their sh*t together against Portsmouth?
- Benitez whines but Liverpool still favourites against Bolton
- Manchester United Should Buy Nolan, Hargreaves And Maxi Rodriguez

He is probably the most overated ‘footballer’ in the Premiership.
He got sent off last season in the three games he didnt play we got beat all 3 times. He isnt the most talented player in the premiership but he is the heartbeat of the bolton side. His form hasnt been great of late and the goals have dried up but his work rate and effort is still there and while he runs his socks for bolton he should start every game and is the right captain for the club and could be for many years
Kevin Nolan seems to me to have lost his way within the clubs framework - witness some of his pro-Allerdice comments before last Saturdays game. Sam Allerdice resigned before the end of the season - as far as I’m aware no-one asked him to leave the club, although there may have been a very frank exchange of views with Phil Gartside even at that stage last April. The real issue seems to be that big Sam has a track record (witness his departure from Notts County) of resigning first and then joining a higher profile club (Bolton in this case).
Kevin Nolan and El Hadj Diouf need to take this on board when viewing big Sam through rose-coloured glasses. Kevin Nolan has considerable talent, but at present he seems not to be applying it to his or Bolton’s best advantage. In my opinion he should try to mirror the example of Gary Speed, who as Wales’ captain always led by example and who seems to concentrate today on doing the basics correctly: accurate passing, sound tackling and anticipation. If he does that, and gets about half a stone in weight off, his form will improve dramatically and Bolton Wanderers will have a true star back in the ranks - hopefully then, the England cap he desires so much will follow. Gary Speed is a very special footballer and we are so lucky to have him. People need to remember that Sammy Lee was a very special footballer and his experience will surely benefit us over time - Rome wasn’t built in a day. Priority this year is to stay up - (40 points) while the ‘new’ style is allowed to develop. Kevin Nolan as captain will have a key and critical role to play in making this happen. I wish the guy every success and there’s no reason if he follows the Speed example that he won’t have a huge and inspirational influence on the club in the years ahead.
wat da hell is rong wit kevo nolan he is a quality player and defo isn´t OVERATED!
Okay, but I’ve never seen the big deal. Speed’s a better player in my book, despite his age. I can’t say much either way about his captaincy, maybe he’s a good leader.
He’s as good as a captain as Phil Neville for Everton..
Stubbs should be captain there, as should Speed at Bolton. Both clear leaders on and off the pitch.
But both managers must have reasons for their choice of captain, I just don’t see either.
leave kevin =alone if it was not for him in the midflied over the past few seasons with speed campo diouf and stielios he is one of owe best players fiar enough he is not in form at the the mo but he gives 100 percent every game for the club
