Going locally;

Steven Taylor as a backup defender ( he can play centre or fullback )

Stewart Downing on left midfield ( he can rotate with Rosicky ), playing with Hleb on the right.

If there is enough cash, we could splash on Gabriel Agbonlahor, who can also play right wing ( coz Eduardo's gonna be out till Sep or later ), with only Adebayor and RVP as proven scorers.

We outta spend this summer.

not sure if bringing in any attacking players will be the best thing for Arsenal at the moment. Arsenal have so many promising youngsters that it is hard to imagine a big new arrival at the Emirates. Any arsenal fan who watches spanish football will be counting down the days until the arrival of c.vela, the player who totally outplayed the supposedly good sergio ramos. Although i wouldn't mind seeing ricardo quaresma wearing the red and white shirt.

Hello again. Just got home from work and feel slightly chuffed at the prospect of another trip to "sold trafford" for what will hopefully turn out to be another great result for the arse up at the home of prawn sarnies (memories of league triumphs there come flooding back) On to the main topic of point and the view from the previous gooner leaves me somewhat confused. Theo on the wing? you sure? His best place in the side is going through the middle. He is wasted on the wing, yeah you have a good point that he has contributed abit from the wing but how often have we seen him run at full-backs and just run into them. It is not like they are world class full backs either. He struugled to get the better of Andy Griffin for fuck sake and that cunt is double his age! Glad we did not sign Woodgate,as i feel he would of only kept our bench warm until Kolo or Gallas picked up an injury (that is unless he was not nursing an injury himself) best off up the road sat next to King on the treatment table. Still feel we need some cover at the back though. Lets see what the next 3 days reveal. In Arsene we trust!

Ok from looking at everyone's comments I see some valid points. However, considering how his squad is balanced, he does not need anyone at the back. If he does, someone will have to leave, maybe Hoyte. With Toure, hopefully recovered from his injury, Song and Eboue back in a couple of weeks. I doubt Wenger will buy another centre half. He needs to give Senderos some confidence, which may see him return to 2005 form (FA cup win year). I don't disagree with the comments about Rosicky and Diaby, however I don't think Arsene should change personnel just yet. I can see a perfect solution in the current squad, and that is move Theo Walcott to the left wing. Why? His best stuff has come from this position, e.g. first game at Emirates v Villa (goal assist) and cutting in from the left to score against Chelsea in the CC final last year. I do however believe it is time to get rid of Gilberto, his performances have cost us quite a bit this season. Just watch his contribution to Spurs goals last Tuesday. I believe he may wait to summer though and may get rid of Diaby and replace him with Vela. I've heard rumours about Andre Ayew and Yoan Gourcuff like the others. Just because its the transfer window doesen't mean Arsene has to buy. If he does, players will need time to adapt, which could affect us in the next few months, so buying isn't always the best policy. I also don't think he'll buy from the UK as players will be overpriced and they'll know they may be a short term fix. Also Mellberg has been playin right back for a while and Woodgate will not want to play second fiddle to Gallas and Toure, so I see no point. I would be more worried for the team if he buys big in an attempt to improve us.

I believe the same as many others on here that we need cover at centre back and a left winger.
Kolo and gallas are good centre backs but senderos and djourou are not good enough cover for a team challenging for 3 major trophies.
In the left wing position rosicky's got legs made of glass and diaby just cannot play there, he's a centre mid nothing more nothing less and has no left foot, in this position i believe ricardo quaresma would be a good buy cause he can also play right, also if we bought him when rosicky is fit rosicky could cover all the other positions across the midfield

at newcastle diaby was terrible! he held onto the ball for too long and as a consequence made a badd pass or ended up losing the ball. I think the performance of hoyte and senderos were encouraging. Therefore i dont think we need a major expensive centre back. Just sum1 who could provide extra cover just in case.
As for midfield we could do with a left winger as rosicky and diaby are not natural wingers who can deliver the killer cross that we need for Adebayor. Speaking of Adebayor, he was brilliant last night Oh, and i thought he got selfish two times in the match, but he scored at the end of both those instances. So its ok.

We just need a stable centre back.
And we need a left winger or at least a left midfield player.
We could try a cheeky bid for Sneijder or we could get Yoaan Gourcuff. He's french, young and very talented to cover for Fabregas. ( Fabby is off form -.- )

I agree that we need things but Arsene wont buy shite. That is his only flaw, frugal to excess. It is one thing when your Dad saves every penny and wont buy Swordfish because the money is for retirement but what the hell is Arsene saving for? He needs to stop trying to just prove a point and start realizing that it doesn't have to be youth only and no purchasing of experience. It doesn't work that well to go all Galactico either so why would all youth work? That is what kills me about ManU is that they have youth and experience and look at them sitting above us on goal difference now.
Wingers, center defenders, we need them. Rosicky is always going to be an injury issue and Walcott may never grow up. Kolo just yanked out his groin in Africa and he was already gonna be gone for a bit. Gallas is not good enough to carry a weaker partner.

I want to stand behind every move of Le Manager but in this one area he seems to have the blinders on.

As an Arsenal season-ticket holder for home and away games i feel that your comments about bringing in a centre back as cover are spot on. Not so much to replace Toure or Gallas but as cover for when Kolo fucks off to the koon cup or when Gallas picks up an injury. Having seen them in the flesh in the past few games i feel that Senderos is a liability at centre back and would not trust him to clear up my washing up let alone a goal mouth scramble. Djourou i feel is bringing the form of a player who has been playing at a relegation club to the Arsenal back 4, which showed in the shit cup against the Yids! hense why he was taken off at half-time. So some fresh faces please Arsene. In attack i feel we are ok with goals coming from the toginator and eduardo now picking up some form, also with rvp to come back (whenever that is?) from injury i feel we will have one of the most feared front lines in the league. Post this mans comments to Arsene Wenger and let him see what the fans want. Altough i think you should leave out the bit about Mellburg! to much of a cart-horse for me. UTA
