i dont know why sumtimes people are bias against beckham, but i see tht only as envy because of beckham being one of the best players ever to set foot on any field, injuries happen to any player and sumtimes ruin their career but for no reason what so ever people should forget what Becks has achieved in the past, which any english or man u supporter or even any football supporter would call nuthing but pure greatness

As a Galaxy blogger, I'm sensing some Beckham backlash in general. Not necessarily among Galaxy fans, but among the MLS fan population. Too much hype, not enough performance. It's going to take a lot of work and good health for him to shake the "overrated" label.

There was also intense pride among Galaxy fans (including me)in the late part of the season when the minimum wage players managed to put together a five-game win streak without either Beckham or most of the high-profile, highly-paid players that GM Alexi Lalas brought in to create Beckham's team. LA made a huge mistake in treating the rest of the team as if they were nothing without Beckham. They're now paying the price with a team that can't integrate top and bottom and a salary cap that requires it.

When Beckham signed in January I would have predicted a huge success. Now I'm thinking it may not work out for him. Which saddens me, becuase he seems to be a decent person -- despite being married to a self-obsessed tw*t. (That's "twit", mom. Trust me.)

Regardless of how the Beckham experiment ends up, I think he has paved the way for better play in the future, including more stars from elsewhere in the world. It's easy for me to picture Thierry Henry in New York, since he's not fitting in at Barca. Luis Figo could show up too. (Although I kind of hope not -- he's getting up there in age and I'm not sure we want to start that NASL retirement home thing again.)

And Zidane? Well, a lady can dream, can't she?

Way too much hate for Becks in this post :)

And if you're going to link to AskMen, why not link to <a href="http://www.askmen.com/specials/2007_top_99/index.html" rel="nofollow">this</a> :) ?

Anyhow, good article, fair points, but there's some pre-existing bias against Becks here that stops me from trusting you completely :)
