£30m goal machine shrugs off possible Liverpool Transfer

Liverpool have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain as the Argentine claimed that he is happy at Napoli after driving his side to a 1-0 win over Lazio on Sunday. Higuain who scored a thumping goal from an acute angle to give the Partenopei the win said, “I am happy, I have a contract with the club”.

There were speculations over Higuain’s future at Naples and a £30m move to Liverpool was mooted after Rafa Benitez’s side bought Italian forward Manolo Gabbiadini from Sampdoria. TMW have also cited Sky Sports and local media outlet Il Mattino claiming that Higuain wants to keep his red hot form going and wants to secure a Champions League spot for the club next season.

Benitez also claimed that Napoli’s January transfer business was over but could bring in a player if an opportunity rises. No player would be leaving unless a ‘crazy offer’ was submitted. Thus it’s safe to assume that Liverpool will have to look elsewhere to get a player of Higuain’s potential.

The Reds are concerned over the poor form of their strikers this season as neither of Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have impressed this season. Daniel Sturridge has missed the majority of the season through injury but is expected to return to action soon.

On Friday Tom Sheen of the Independent quoted Daily Star claiming that Liverpool are ready to battle Chelsea for £32m Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi. In fact Liverpool Echo have also reported the story.

Finally Liverpool Echo’s report also state that Dnipro star Yehven Konoplyanka’s price had dropped to £7m but the Reds face fierce competition if they are to land the Ukraine international. It is also believed that Tottenham, West Ham, Everton and Napoli are also interested in the dazzling winger.
