Heinze, Liverpool, Manchester United - Hypocrisy or not?

Written by karl

Heinze, Liverpool, Manchester United - Hypocrisy or not?

Disclaimer: This article is written from a United supporter’s point of view and probably is a biased view.

I’ve heard some ‘strange’ arguments from scousers before. However, likening this move to the Tevez move and then calling Manchester United hypocrites? That’s classic.

Let’s be honest. Why are the Liverpool fans really upset?

Is it perhaps because:

a) this case is the same as the Tevez case, or

b) Manchester United won’t allow Heinze to join Liverpool, or

c) this is Manchester United we’re talking about

My take on the above:

a) The Tevez case

With Tevez, ALL parties agreed up-front to a transfer. The only dispute today is WHO will receive the bulk of the money. I’m no legal expert, but I’m sure that if the FAPL did not step in, the financials would have been resolved between the 3 parties involved. Unfortunately, they had to step in because of something called ‘relegation’, a club named Sheffield United and a lawsuit of about £50m just waiting to find a willing recipient.

Manchester United would be foolish to blame West Ham for the hold up in the Tevez transfer.

b) Heinze to Liverpool

Why should you strengthen your main rivals?

When Sir Alex Furgeson started at Manchester United, his main goal was, to turn Manchester United into the greatest team in English history. To achieve this goal, Manchester United needs to among others - this is a tough one to mention :-( - beat the records set at the time by Liverpool. That goal still holds today. (We are currently 2 away in the League, and 3 in the Champions League). Will it not be foolish to sell a good player (whose never-say-die attitude) symbolizes the heart of Manchester United – to Liverpool of all teams?

Contrary to some beliefs, Heinze is not surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. SAF also mentioned a couple of times that Heinze himself has not yet spoken to him personally about a move. He also stated that if the player really wants to go, they will not stand in his way, as long it’s not Liverpool.

If Heinze really wants to join Liverpool, he can buy out his contract in January.

This also raises an important question. Why would he want to move because of apparently not getting enough 1st team football, to another team that is well-known for their rotational policy?

From a Liverpool point of view, consider the following scenario…

If Manchester United made an offer for Steven Gerrard,

a) will the club allow him to move? (pretty sure NO)

b) will you the fans be upset about it? (pretty sure YES)

Please don’t give me crap about “…that won’t happen because our players are loyal…”. If this is indeed the argument, why then do you ant to go for a seemingly non-loyal person?

Loyalty cannot be taught overnight – it’s part of your personality. (Besides, it applies to fans, not players).

Argument does not hold.

c) It’s Manchester United

This is the real reason isn’t it? :-)

Why hide behind words like hypocrisy and arrogance? Why resort to calling our manager names? Why not be open about it and say…”we don’t give a fuck about Heinze, we just found a reason to piss the United fans off and to invade their fan blogsite (over at redrants)”? Maybe then we can have a meaningful discussion (and compare trophies).

  1. Well I am having second thoughts on Heinze now. The lawyer related reports are slightly disturbing, and Heinze’s silence is annoying.

  2. I plan to post an article on RR in a day or two on that.

  3. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

Well at least it gives us something to talk about until the season starts :)

  4. if he wants to progress let him, just not at liverpool, whats rafa thinking, he just stole 1 of are alleged targets and expects one of are players to come? go back to spain you crazy cook.

  5. 27/07/2007 Balanced View

As neither a manc or a scouser, I have to say there are some serious flaws in your argument.
You seem to have conveniently forgotten that there is in existence a letter from Man Utd’s lawyers to Heinze’s agent saying that Heinze can go to any club meeting their valuation. This is irrefutable and has been accepted by both sides, albeit that Man Utd are saying that there were further verbal conditions attached.
As a lawyer myself, I have to say that Man Utd appear to be on a sticky wicket as any Judge will favour something in writing over something verbal. There is also the contra preferentum rule, which states that if there is contractual ambiguity, the said ambiguity will be settled in favour of the party that did not draft the contract, in this case Heinze’s lawyers. Man Utd’s lawyers will undoubtedly know this as will Alex Ferguson. He will therefore have serious egg on his face for his comments about Heinze not going anywhere, because if Heinze forces the issue, he will most likely succeed.
So, from a legal point of view, Fereguson is either being hypocritical or naive, and lets face it, Ferguson is way too savvy to be this naive.

  6. 27/07/2007 Antony Richards

I’m a long standing Liverpool supporter of many years.

What I’ve got to say is “Grow Up”. If a player doesn’t want to play for u let him go……you should be confident in your own teams capabilities without worrying about anyone else.

SAF should be setting an examnple on how to act with dignity and class ….Man U’s team is fantastic anyway without worrying about a left back going to Liverpool. Just let him go….so what…..what’t the big deal?

As regards the Tevez affair I can’t blame Man U at all ….he’s a brilliant player …..go and get him …we would……….

I don’t hate Man U …..I’m a grown up…..in fact I appreciate their attacking skillful football and they are an example to other teams on how attacking football could be played. I merely dislike Man U because of all the history and the fact we challenge for the same trophies and players…..I admit I would like to see them relegated but only because I’m jealous and perceive them as a threat…..

    Just being honest

    Cheers

    Ant

  7. The reason LFC want Henze is because he fits into the plans of Rafa so well compared to other left backs available, we have an up and coming argie left back in Insua and young centre back Paletta, adding Heinze to the fold would bring on the development of these specific players. Its just logic to Rafa, we dont have to piss MUFC off their already doing that for us in pretending to be the best in the land, but even after total domination over the 90’s and last seasons league win MUFC are STILL behind LFC in league wins and champions league wins, and they hate it. Alex “Whisky Nose” Fergusons’ just been played at his own game….the king of tapping up players(Stam,Van horse face, tevez) and stealing the best players from his rivals (Cantona,Saha,Rooney,Rio), talking of other teams players like he owns them on a regular basis (Viera,Gerrard….) The problem is not LFC or Heinze, the problem is Whisky nose and his club, they cant handle the fact that LFC and others are closing the gap and fast…they have lost the mantle and others are now attracting players they once thought only they could get…People arnt stupid, MUFC do have the most Premier league titles but LFC has a better history, everyone knows it, thats why the fool wont retire because he somehow thinks that he can overtake LFC’s league wins tally….The ironic thing is that his idols were Paisley and Shankley…….1 champions league final in 17 years….Grrrrreat!!

  8. Heinze probably won’t leave,i just don’t see the reason why;
he’s part of a fantastic team,no problems with his boss or teammates & he’s a fighter;he will want to show his full potential providing stiff competition with Evra…

But if he absolutely has to,WHY Liverpool??

Real Madrid or Juventus even Roma
    (Carlos,Chiellini & Chivu gone respectively…LB…)
would surely guarantee him first team football given his stature…

    Its just a no-brainer…

  9. As a Liverpool fan, I think Heinze would be a great addition - Liverpool wouldn’t be going to all this trouble just to annoy United in a childish fashion… it’s clearly a football decision because he’s a superb player.
I understand United being upset about it and it remains to be seen what will happen. I don’t see any hypocrisy in United’s position regarding Tevez and Heinze - anyone would like to sign Carlos and it’s the Premier League’s position on 3rd party ownership which has caused the current impasse - and the decision not to sell Heinze to a rival makes sense even from a cold business point of view, even without indulging the obvious emotional side.

The courts will decide and someone is going upset, one way or the other.

  10. 27/07/2007 Samphraim

Some papers claim that GH is filing a case against united to secure a move for Liverpool. If that is true, well, let him go and no one ever wanted to see him again in our shirt, Isn’t it. Someone like Giggs/Scholes/Garry got to teach the guy about,
    1. Club loyalty (When he was injured…)
    2. The rivalry between the two clubs

  11. 27/07/2007 MAK - Nairobi Kenya

This is not about who “man utd are”. This is about Heinze buying out his contract. This also not about Liverpool wanting Heinze. We can get other left backs. This is psychological warfare. Gill got screwed when his bluff of 6.8 million for a 29 year old was responded to positively by ONLY Liverpool without Gill employing any club caveats.
Gill, Sir Smug nose and Mancs are screwed.

  12. Hey Dan, Rafa stole two of your targets this summer, Slur Laxative wanted to buy Lucas Leiva, Brazilian under 21 captain, winner of the best player in the Brazilian League this season, the new Falcao. But he preffered to come to Liverpool. As for Torres, well we didnt steal him from you because he only wanted to come to Liverpool and has been a lifelong Red.

  13. 27/07/2007 jonesy

a very selective view of the “hypocrite” allegation there, one tinted strongly with MU bias. Try this for size….hypocrisy because Exlax Ferguson accusses others of illegal approaches to his players. Tell it to Jap Staam, Ruud vanNisteldiver, Wayne Rooney, Ferdinand, etc etc etc Be honest, old beetroot head has made “tapping up” his modus operandi all his career, but now bleats when it is done to him (if indeed it really has). I do not expect an honest response from the author of this article; his selective vision is as one-sided as Exlax’s.
You sh1te are to football what McDonalds are to the food industry.

  14. 27/07/2007 Jim Stephenson

Dan, it just goes to show the arrogance of United fans “whats rafa thinking, he just stole 1 of are alleged targets and expects one of are players to come” Are United the only club who are aloud to buy players?? It is pretty obvious that the alleged target didnt want to go United, and it pretty clear that Heinze wants to get away! You lot really think you run world football!!

  15. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

Samphraim i heard about that and apparently Liverpool’s lawyers are helping himwhich would be really stupid because that means that they definately tapped him up. Liverpool made an offer for a United Player who is under contract for the next 2 years - it was rejected get over it.

  16. 27/07/2007 Ronin2009

Jade.. How Orginal your insult is nicked from a banner liverpool supporters used in the 2003 cup final

    Dan.. what player/target was nicked??

all in all i think the article is a pretty fair view to be honest and would tend to agree with alot of it, except i think liverpool fans are getting upset about it all i don’t think many could care less if he comes or not.
I personally think it’s quite amuzing in the build up to the start of the premiership.

  17. 27/07/2007 MAK - Nairobi Kenya

He had 2 years on his contract with a buy out clause. Which part of that do you not get?

  18. Liam,
if the outcome were to be that straightforward, I can’t imagine money being spent on legal counsel. Heinze can use any legal representation he wants (except United’s in this case) and using a firm associated with Liverpool doesn’t prove or have any bearing on whether he was tapped up or not.

The outcome should be an interesting one - and regardless of all the posturing on both sides, Heinze should have an interesting year ahead of him.
In Italy, players and managers move between the top clubs all the time - I don’t think it’s because the fans hate each other any less.

  19. 27/07/2007 5yearplan

Firstly BOB there are obviously problems or he wouldn’t be taking you to court over it, and secondly LIAM he is using the same lawyers as liverpool use, not the same thing as using liverpools lawyers, no action is being taken by liverpool only by Heinze.
Liverpool made a bid that would have been accepted if it was made by any other club, and it was refused and heinze is taking you to court to find out why.(incidentally this is restriction of trade and it is likely that will be the most important thing in this case)

  20. [Balanced View]
I agree fully with what you’re saying. United made a mistake by not specifying in their letter what they apparently verbally discussed with the agent. Hence, ‘the gap’. Should Heinze take it to court, he will most likely win the case.
My point of this artile was however, Why is this now a case of ‘hypocrisy’ (as specified in some of the forum threads) on United’s side?

  21. CONSPIRACY THEORY!!!

My personal take on this matter. What do you guys think?

Heinze is a brilliant footballer. He is one of the best left-backs in the PL.
I belive that £6m is a reasonable price. In fact, I think it is a bit of a steal for a player of his calibre.

Am I the only one that suspect this, or do you guys agree that it seems a bit strange that only Liverpool made a formal offer for his services?
Thinking about it last night, I figured that there are a lot of teams looking for good defenders.
Newcastle for starters…what about Madrid? I mean, really now, Heinze would be able to walk into almost any team in the PL…he could even walk into most teams in Europe… Why is there only 1 bid from Liverpool?

    It can either be:
    a) The price is too much - This will mean Liverpool are stressing over an over-priced player??? Doubt Benitez is that stupdid???
    b) The player/agent don’t really want a move - which means they’re pushing for salary increase
    c) Heinze want more playing time - why move to Liverpool with Benitez’ rotation policy? Playing time not assured either
    d) Heinze really want to join Liverpool - Why then
    1) have he not come out publicly himself?
    2) if they’ve been pushing this for about a year and a half now, then he must have wanted to go 6months after he signed a contract. This must mean he is a lifelong Liverpool supporter, or something. Why then did he sign for arch-rivals United?

No matter which way you look at it, something is not right.

I think it’s about more salary

  22. 27/07/2007 jonesy

    Q/ Why hypocrisy?
    A/ Jap Staam, etc.

Exlax has claimed illegal approaches to Heinze. Remember Jap Staam and the circumstances of his arrival at OT? Hence the hypocrisy….end of.

  23. @jonesy
Jaap Stam happened a long time ago. I’m not going to make excuses for that (or any of the others that you rightly pointed out) other than to say… SAF learnt. In recent years how many cases/rumours of ‘tapping up’ were there against United?
Main reason he accused liverpool of player-tapping is because he don’t really have any other defence. United were negligent in giving his agent a letter not corresponding to what they instructed him. Wether the player was indeed ‘tapped-up’ is questionable. That said, it still does not make it right to tap up a player (no matter how many times SAF might have done it).

  24. Rafael Benitez does not normally get involved with the off-field mind games between opposing managers that is all too common in today’s world of football. But in the Champions League encounter last season between Liverpool and Chelsea he showed that he is more than capable of holding his own in a battle of words. Now his attempt to sign Gabriel Heinz from arch enemy Manchester United has all the hallmarks of a true chess grandmaster. In one simple move he has backed Sir Alex into a corner with his audacious bid to make Heinz the first man to leave Old Trafford for Anfield since Phil Chisnall in 1964.I have no doubt that Benitez would really like to sign Heinze, but i also believe that when he first made his move for the Argentinian he thought that it would have very little chance of success. Perhaps he was being mischievous. But because of United’s amateurish handling of the situation they have actually made the move, which would be a nightmare for the club and their fans, become a real possibility.Sir Alex Ferguson told the media that, under no circumstances, would Heinze play for Liverpool. That was a mistake. Heinze was on holiday after playing in the Copa America and they had told the player, months earlier, that if a club came in with a bid of £6.8m he would be free to move.I’m sure that if Sir Alex had not panicked when the Liverpool bid came in, and actually explained to the player the problems that this transfer would cause, that Heinze would be prepared to wait for something else. But Heinze, like all Premiership players, leads a pampered life and is not used to being told “No. So it must have really riled Heinze that he was being told who he could, or could not, sign for after the earlier agreement between club and player.United have backed themselves into a corner in this situation and may find themselves in court twice this summer with the drawn-out Carlos Tevez affair, and these are distractions they could do without. One indication of how much Benitez is enjoying this little battle was evident with his little tongue-in-cheek statement that “I don’t know what the problem is.” Somehow i think he knows how it would hurt all Manchester fans around the globe if Gabriel Heinze moved to Liverpool and, even worse, if he became a success at Anfield.

  25. Heinze will not join liverpool dont care what the letter said. His 2 year contract did not have any release clause or anything. What bothers me is all u liverpool fans sending your child like insults to our manager.i mean what for?are you jealous of him?he doesnt give a shite what u call him and never will .get it into your heads. Trophyless bunch.

  26. 27/07/2007 jonesy

Bu tyou asked why the hypocrisy allegation. You got your answer. although jap staam wam 5/6 years ago there was also RVN and Shrek more recently. And it was always the United players (esp. Gary “Dot Cotton” Neville, exlax’s little goafer) that were accused of tapping other players while on international duty. So don’t come the innocent mate. Exlax has been the biggest culprit of illegal tapping so its hugely hypocritical for him to accuse others. Your arrogance amazes me that you seem to be beyond criticism. Hypocrisy is a perfect description of this scenario.

  27. @jonesy
It seems like we’re starting another debate. I’d hate that. however, please get your facts straight.
    1. RVN - no tap up. United agreed with PSV to speak to him. It was agreed. United made an offer. RVN got injured. United pulled bak and waited. A year later, offer made, offer accepted.where’s tap=up?
    2. Rooney - no tap up. United waited till the end of the season to see if any bids came in. At the end, Newcastle made a bid. United out-bidded them. Offer accepted. Where’s the tap-up?

Theres no cases of tap-ups. Come to think of it, there’s no rumours of tap-ups either in recent seasons. Where’s the hypocrisy?

Besides, the ‘hypocrisy’ of this article had to do with the Tevez allegations.

  28. With Rooney I meant ‘end of TRANSFER season

  29. @jonesy - you must surely be a Liverpool fan :-) Stam happened way back in 1998.

  30. 27/07/2007 jaluo manutd

all u liverfool supporters jus get it,,its so simple,,heinze aint joining u now,or in a hundred years..shop for another left back. period

  31. This is the biggest biased garbage I have read. How is this not similar to the Tevez saga??? West Ham do not want to sell Tevez and offered him an improved contract, though if he wants to leave they expect the full money. No rocket science required there. As for Heinze, how stupid is your chief Exec to give a signed letter to a player allowing him to move for a set fee to any club? Remember the old Ashley Cole saga?!? Utd are to big for their boots and need to realise their hypocracy wont always be tolerated. As for loyalty, Gerrard was born a red and will remain a red therefore has loyalty to the club who pay his wages but more importnatly he supports. Just like Gary Neville, Scholes etc. As for history books, Utd may catch us in terms Domestic achievements however, in Europe Fergie lacks that little bit extra to win another European Cup. As for comparing trophies….. theres no comparison available but if you want to see the last European Cup you won the address is Liverpool Football Club, Anfield, Liverpool lol lol

  32. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

    Jonesy
I don’t know where you get your facts from but when a club makes a bid for a player and that bid is accepted it’s not seen as tapping up. Rooney had an argument with Moyes and United acted on it by making a bid which Everton accepted. RvN had a fee agreed 2 years before he moved to United but then failed a medical. Failing a medical isn’t seen as being tapped up either so unless you find something to back up these claims then they will just be proven wrong.

    CK
the Tevez court battle is between West Ham and MSI nothing to do with United other than to see who the transfer fee goes to. Maybe the PL should look into Mascherano’s move to ‘Pool because there seems to be as much wrong with that as the Tevez affair.

  33. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

    Mital
Did someone forget to tell you that Liverpool lost the final this year. You were lucky that Milan beat us in the semis because imagine the embarassment of losing to us in both league games and the Final.

    David B- I salute thee!!

  35. 27/07/2007 jonesy

Does hypocrisy have a lifespan? So for Exlax to break the rule in 1998 means it was ok, cos that was 9 years ago!!! Staam was the only admitted example of it (and we all know what happened to JS when he told the truth don’t we?)
RVN, Shrek, and others (like Ferdinand) were all approached and unsettled first informally without their clubs consent. The victim club was then forced to give you formal consent; the alternatives were even worse for the victim club.
Do not try to pretend that you only ever acted unethically once; that line of defence is pathetic, is believed by nobody, and destroyed by facts. The hypocrisy is blatant, and to be demonstrated clearly then you have to look at the wider picture; not just the Tevez affair. It suits you to limit it to Tevez but Exlax’s shameful tactics have gone on for years and left many victims in his wake.
Ever remember a player called Tomlinson? Exlax admitted an illegal approach for him that turned his head and made him demand a transfer from Bradford. The victim club duly complained but Exlax paid the £100,000 penalty and got his man. I bet Exlax smiled as he signed the cheque.
Thats why many have used the word hypocrisy. Admittedly other clubs do the tapping; but Exlax is the worst offender, and then has the audacity to criticise others. He cangive it but he can’t take it.

  36. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

Like I said bring the proof and we’ll believe you.

  37. While you’re collecting the proof, maybe you bring proof of denying the following question as well?

    Did Liverpool tap Heinze up?
(In other words, when did negotiations with the player start? Before, or after the agent was told not to sell to Liverpool, Arsenal, or Chelsea?)

  38. Guys, I’d like to stay and defend my views, but my wife called to say she started having contractions…
I might not be back untill next week.

Liam O’Kelly, can you stand up for me?

  39. 27/07/2007 jonesy

Proof: Jap Staam admitted it - FACT. The Tomlinson case - FACT. Let’s face it no amount of proof would make you bigots accept it.

Whether Heinze was tapped or not is irrelevant to this argument that Exlax is a hypocrite. And in any case why go into the realms of the unreasonable? Do you seriously expect me, yourself or any other member of the public to know who said what to Heinze and when while the matter is still progressing? That was thrown in by Karl as a distraction and exposes the weakness of his defence. To ask for the impossible is merely a silly smokescreen tactic to conceal that you have no defence.
In short Exlax has been caught out many times and it is common knowledge. Don’t forget the “hypocrite” accusation has come from many fans, it was not started by me. But its accurate and you are in total denial. No amount of proof would force you to admit it; so get off your false moral high ground and do not ask questions and then ignore the answers you do not like. You asked for facts and you have been supplied them.

Q/ So tell us what happened to Stam when he admitted being tapped up? And then try to tell uis that Exlax has only done this once….get real.

  40. 27/07/2007 jonesy

To the idiots who ask for proof; ok i have a bag of signed confessions and recorded admissions by Exlax in my desk. The onus is now on YOU bigots to come and anmalyse them.
See how stupid your line of arguement is?

All this was started by Karl and his “why hypocrite” shock horror revelation. Well you have had factual explanation but still choose to deny it. So don’t ask why everybody hates arrogant Man U fans.

  41. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

make a link to articles of the web saying that United tapped them up and then we’ll believe you because I can’t see the papers staying away from a scandal and I haven’t heard anything about this previously.

  42. 27/07/2007 jonesy

Liam, you are stupid, naive or plain bias to believe that RVN, Shrek, etc etc etc were all “conveniently” in dispute with their clubs and that nice Mr. Exlax Ferguson accidently happened on the scene to make an offer that pleased everybody. Don’t insult our intelligence.

Its been known for some time that many EPL managers do not like their players to get an England call cos then they get the treatment from the united clan (working under orders) in the England camp. The player then goes back to his club and engineers a fall out in order to expedite a move to the sh1te. That is just 1 example of how tapping up works.

  43. 27/07/2007 jonesy

Liam be honest - you will NEVER believe it cos you don’t want to.
Do you now suggest that anything that doesn’t have a web link is not true? A crass line of arguement. Can you not understand that anybody who does tell the truth about Exlax tends to get “beaten up”….Staam fo rone; and countless journalists. Get real.

  44. 27/07/2007 jonesy

ha ha ha just noticed that Karl had the nerve to say “let’s be honest” in his original whinge. A fine example of yet more MU hypocrisy….couldn’t have scripted it better.

I am off to see my lovely girlfriend (can you believe she’s a MU fan) - but Liam and Karl consider yourselves well and truly spanked by this scouser.

  45. 27/07/2007 Liam O'Kelly

And I suppose that there is a secret government agency who engineers all of these arguments because they are United fans and everyone in the world is just out to get Liverpool.

  46. ‘a move to the shite’ liverpool are shite.mr jonesy all you are doing is making up these stories and u think we are stupid enough to believe them.who do you think you are? i see you as one of those fans who believe every piece of bullshit that comes out of the media.spare us!any1 can make up the crap that is coming outa u.

  47. 27/07/2007 Balanced View

    Karl,
I personally think that there is an element of hypocrisy insofar as Ferguson is’canny’ when it comes transfer dealings. He has infact come out in the press and called Liverpool merely opportunists for their approach and confirmed that he would have done exactly the same thing if he had heard that Gerrard was available at a certain figure. It is therefore a touch hypocritical to subsequently suggest that there has been any ‘tapping up’. Either that or Ferguson is implicitly condoning tapping up!

Overall tho, I have to say that despite the slight bias toward Man Utd, it was a good, thought provoking article. It is disappointing however that some so called Man Utd fans think it is appropriate to comment about bombing Liverpool not Iraq. But hey, I guess there are idiots everywhere and thanks to the moderator for removing said comments.

  48. The chances of Heinze moving to MU are comparable to Gerrard making the other trip. Delusion is a common thing in football.

  49. 27/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

Balanced view I fink your right and i hope so to it will put less pressure on carragher to have heinze with us but I still think Benitez needs to continue with signings.

Fernando Torres plays beautiful football but needs an explosive partner.

On the subject Benitez isnt out to annoy SAF that is a typical united supporter comment and Fergy even said he wud do the same thing in benitez’s position look it up on skysports . com

oh yeh and united and chelsea enjoy comfortable 2 team seasons while you can Liverpool arent the only team pressuring u and this post is clearly a sign of fear.

  52. 28/07/2007 Govind

“1 champions league final in 17 years….Grrrrreat!!”..u aint much better..its more like 0+1..for liverpool in the last 17 years..

  53. 28/07/2007 Govind

“Tell it to Jap Staam, Ruud vanNisteldiver, Wayne Rooney, Ferdinand, etc etc etc Be honest, old beetroot head has made “tapping up” his modus operandi all his career, but now bleats when it is done to him (if indeed it really has).”
says who..says some pissed of ‘pool fans..who doesnt know what they are talking about..

  54. 28/07/2007 Govind

    @jones
how bitter can u be..its seems calling united ,its players and manager..contorted derogatory nicknames is your only source of satisfaction..fortunately not everyone has to stoop to your level..

  55. 28/07/2007 Govind

“s for loyalty, Gerrard was born a red and will remain a red therefore has loyalty to the club who pay his wages but more importnatly he supports”..ya thts y he handed in a transfer request and u lot had to resort to death threats to force him to stay..

  56. 28/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

lol Govind seriously we dropped 12 points this season play our reserves and u guys shuda lost at anfield bellamy scored and u guys got a really questionable free kick for that makes it an extra 15 points for us and 3 points off u guys

If we played the season right the gap wud have been 3 points so now with a better team we wont kneel to u!!!!!

  57. Ha ha liverpool fan thats the biggest load of shit i have ever heard in my life.firstly bellamy was offside.ever heard of that rule?and secondly liverpool put reserves because there was no chance of catchin the champions simple.

When I read your opinion I just burst out laughing. What use is it to say you dropped 12 points playing your reserves. If you had such a good chance of the title then why even play your reserves. And as you said even if you had have gotten those 15 extra points we still would have finished above you. It’s no use dominating games and not scoring if that was the case Arsenal probably would have won every game. Also ‘Pool haven’t improved as much as you would like to think. Torres is a good player but the most he ever scored in a season in Spain is 15 and Diego Forlan has outscored him every season since he moved there with what is probably a worse team than Atletico. Babel is a striker and you are goingto play him as a winger. Benayoun is a central player who is going to be played on the wing as well so I don’t really uch of an improvement. Also in case no one told you United have bought some players this season. We also have some good players coming back from loan in Pique, Rossi, Evans and Danny Simpson.

  59. 28/07/2007 Kartik

Well well well!!! The scousers seem to be pretty hyped up.Anyway u lot have no chance of signing Heinze as i just read in sky sports that there is an audio tape between Gill and Heinze (i think or his agent) saying that he can leave but not to the title challengers. There falls your case!!LOL

  60. 28/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

I am not saying that we shud have finished 3 points behind u im saying if we were in with a chance we wud have recieved more points. Soooooo Instead of all u united fans slabbering about the 21 points its just means that we stopped trying for the league after our rockey start so the number of points means nothing.

So b4 u start up this shit firstly know wat im talking about and the secondly know wat ur talking about.

by the way torres had a 21 goal season at spain just incase u dont believe me check his record and he only played 40 games he will play far more for liverpool.

and no he wont be rotated all the time look at gerrard plays around 55 games a season and carragher too.

think about this Torres cost us only a little bit more than nani cost u so sometimes managers take risks and i respect SAF idea. So i dont see y everyone is annoying benitez at buying a spanish internacional

  61. 29/07/2007 Mike Burrows

Erm? Is Heinze the heartbeat of Manchester United team? NO. Is Gerrard is for Liverpool? YES. Is Heinze worth 30M+? NO. He’s worth about 6-8. FOOL!

  62. 29/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

well if ur comment is true i cant say im not dissapointed but Benitez wont quit on his look out for another CB we’ll see whos laughing when the actual season starts.

  63. He had a 21 goal season if your including the tow spanish Cups, which none of the top teams take seriously…Saha scored 21 aswell and he played 38 games overall…and we payed less than half of what you paid for him so that doesn’t make Torres sound too great does it? We paid 15m for Nani, you paid nearly twice that much for Torres. And Heinze would be rotated all the time since Riise would be ahead of him at left back, plus Carragher and Agger would be ahead of him at centre back, Carragher and Gerrard are your two best players, thats why they play that much, and if you think Heinze will be one of Liverpool’s best players it shows how much you really have improved over the summer.

  64. 29/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

yes but i am simply trying to point out he wont be just scoring in the league jesus mancs r so stubborn

and pluss torres links up play and gets plenty of asissts were saha dose not.

And plus Heinze wud go CB with Carra agger is not responsible enough that is y Heinze wud be a regular.

and torres is also one of out best players so he will get to play many more games.

  65. 29/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

may i also point out the ONLY 2 players in la liga who have scored more in the past 5 years than Torres r david villa and eto.

and b4 u say anything else think about the other players in La Liga like messi Ronaldinho and Raul.

And i think we’ll all agree eto and David Villa wud have cost near 30 million david villas buy out clause is 70 million so now ask did we really over pay for Torres

  66. 30/07/2007 Liverpool_Fan

If u now look at liverpool they got 2 good players for every position except Left cb so heinze will not be a left back.

    Reina/Carson….Finnan/Arbeloa….Carra/Hypia….Agger…. Aurelio/Risse….Pennant/Benyoun….Gerrard/Momo….Alonso/Mascherano….Kewell/Babel….Torres/Crouch….Voronin/Kuyt

we have never had an organised team like this heinze is the missing ingridient and we will stop at nothing to get him.

Btw if we dont get him dont feel we r beat we will continue to improve!!!

  67. Taehr, trophyless? You wish.
Quite the opposite my friend. Liverpool have more trophies than Manchester Utd, and that’s not me being bias. That’s a stone cold fact.

I think this is a very pathetic, and petty arguement if I have ever read one. People have their own views, and arguing will not change their minds, reasoning would.

Liverpool fans.. Man Utd fans.. Arguing will not settle things. None of you are winning. You all just sound like a bunch of twats. Give over.

  68. Tony i was talkin bout last season when the most successful club in england won nothing.
