Wayne Rooney suffered a minor groin problem that kept him out of action in the last two matches. Giggs said that Rooney has returned to training again and will be for the World Cup. The Welshman said as quoted by BBC:

“He is training and will be fine for the World Cup. He has just started over the last couple of days. Sunday is a little bit too quick for him.”

Jones, the 22-year-old versatile defender injured his shoulder in the 3-1 victory against Hull City, will also be absent from the United squad that will travel to Southampton on the final day of an yet another thrilling Barclays Premier League season.

“The injury is not as bad as I thought,” Giggs said. “He won’t be fit for Sunday but he will be OK for the World Cup.”

Giggs, reflected on his own future, amid speculations that Dutch coach Luois van Gaal will be the next Manchester United manager, saying he is solely focussed on preparing the team for Southampton and nothing else.
