Gerrard’s dive against Blackburn

Gerrard’s dive against Blackburn

Behind the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa in the league and as things stand not even qualifying for the Europa League through their league position, Liverpool are in a bit of mess.

But does that make it OK for Stevie G to dive?

via Republik Of Mancunia.

Would a ref behind the goal have caught this, and if yes, would he have asked the ref in the middle to give the Liverpool captain a yellow card for diving? That would make the headlines, surely.

Feel sorry for Liverpool that their talsiman, hero and skipper comes out with quotes like how he jumps of the sofa in anger when players dive and how if he saw a livepool player diving he would have a word, telling them to cut it out. Along with 2 transfer requests maybe stevie G isnt such a saint that the media paint him to be.

The video is inconclusive, i.e. there is no ground to claim it is a dive. The camera angle certainly doesn’t allow to tell if there is contact between the players. Quit thinking with your guts, use your heads.

  1. @john. this video is quite conclusive if you look close enough. half of the defender’s foot, landed on the ground behind gerarrd’s heel. if his foot was to land on gerarrd’s, gerarrd would’ve ended up with a broken ankle. the most favor gerarrd would get on this dive from me would be: he went down way too easy.

No one made any serious appeal for a penalty — I don’t think that’s necessarily conclusive here, but it certainly doesn’t help the case of the people saying “LOOK HE DIVED!!”

Not sure how guys can stick up for Gerrard there. Plenty of camera angles show he wasn’t touched at all and simply dived.

Its funny how we protect the British players, Ngog was completely slaughtered for his dive against Birmingham but Gerrard is just kind of waved away like nothing happened. We all know its not the first time he’s dived either yet foreign players get lambasted if they dive.

Looks like desperate times are calling for desperate measures at Liverpool.

Liverpool fans are the most blinkered lot around. It’s well known that stevie starfish is a serial diver, as is bruno torres. I think the refs are getting wise to the hypocrite, now we just need the media to follow suit, but i won’t hold my breath!

Sorry, but this video is inconclusive. There may be other film that shows no contact and then you’d be closer to showing it was a dive but in the meantime, this video was the evidence provided and it’s not sufficient.

Note that I am not defending Gerrard or any other diver but noticing that most times, claims of diving aren’t properly substantiated. It’s in fact quite difficult to show conclusively that a player dived.

Watch the replay at about 45 seconds in. It’s pretty conclusive – he collapsed without contact.

How can any guy with half a brain conclude that it is a dive from this unclear video? You liverpool and stevie g haters need to get a life. the minute you have a tiny bit of anything, you jump to trash talk stevie. lol, well if it makes you sleep at night. sad lot, the bunch of you.
