From Spain: Liverpool showing interest in Alex Song
Liverpool, Inter Milan and AC Milan are showing a keen interest in Barcelona and former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, according to reports from Spain.
Song joined Barcelona in 2012 after serving Arsenal for seven long years. However, he has hardly made any big impact since his move to Nou Camp, failing to cement regular starting place. He made only 19 league appearances last season and Barcelona are keen to offload him in the summer.
He doesn’t feature in Luis Enrique’s plans and is almost certain to leave Spain this summer. Back in June, we reported that Manchester United were showing an interest in the Cameroon international, who was equally keen to return to the Premier League.
However, Barcelona have slapped a €25m asking price on his shoulders while his €4m-per-year is a put off for all the potential suitors. Frankly, after a poor World Cup campaign, who would want to sign him at price.
Catalan newspaper Sport today reporting that Liverpool are showing an interest in Song but are willing to match his high wage demands, and no concrete offers have been tabled as yet.
The Reds have already signed seven players this summer and are close to signing Alberto Moreno, who will undergo a medical this week.
