How many times has this happened, people just dont get it great players don't always make great gaffers. Maradona didn't need to put his legendary status on the line by doing this poorly with Argentina.

They should have but Sergio Batista at the helm, hes proven he can get the job done

Could the altitude be blamed for the result ?? What was it, three thousand feet above sea level ?? Can that affect the players' performance ???

As far as I can see Argentina's problems came from a mix of altitude, too much confidence, bad tactics, and an unwillingness to accept what was going on. Poor Maradona. I don't doubt that his heart's in the right place, but he isn't tactically strong enough to carry this team anywhere.

Don't forget, though, this doesn't mean Argentina's qualifying run is over. Sure, their goal difference has taken a hit, but they're still in 4th place, only 2 points out of 2nd. And the top four teams from CONMEBOL automatically qualify.

Argentina will qualify, they have too much talent but as for the tournament itself i see them going out in the 2nd round. Raelin is right Maradona just doesn't have the tactical shrewdness necessary for international tournaments.

The time for Maradona's "honeymoon" with Argentina is OVER...now that they must wake up...

mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

I still think he will do a good job as a manager. The striking trio of tevez messi and aguero, and the zillion other strikers as substitutes actually make his job quite easy.
I hope diego milito gets an international call-up though. He's been consistently scoring goals and has always been overlooked.Similar to the mikel arteta situation

Nani outranks that Chelsea failure in the portugal setup! & Rightly so if u play on the left wing u should be able to use ur left foot not use the outside of ur right foot! Besides we have already established that Nani is better than Malouda & Malouda is better than RQ
    Cristiano > Simao > Nani > Queresma ;)

Bolivia recorded one of the truly great upsets destroying Maradona’s side in devastating fashion. Martins’ 12 minute opener was cancelled out by Gonzalez but that was as good as it got for Argentina.
