Would Eric Cantona be any good as a United coach?

With it looking as if Carlos Queiroz is going to leave, we now hear that Eric Cantona is seriously thinking of taking up United's long-standing offer of joining the United coaching team. But would he be any good?

Spending 10 years playing beach football, acting and directing films is no preparation for a life as a coach at the best club side in Europe. Football's moved on since the mid-90s.

Pontificating about football is one thing; being a top class coach is quite another. It may sound like heresy to United supporters of a certain age who hero worship Cantona, but really would the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Ronaldo(!)etc. be convinced by Eric or would they simply regard him as a bit of a pompous, self-important poseur (as coach, that is)?

He must learn many things from his mentor,Sir Alex Ferguson before taking Fergie's place at United after Fergie retires...

mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

i think he would do well as a coach and would gain some experience from sir alex if he wanted to become a manager.former man united players usually do well as managers as we have seen from mark hughes, steve bruce and paul ince.

not because someone was a great player means they'd be a great coach.

i think he should build himself like how dennis wise is doing, paul ince is doing, roy keane is doing....

to thrust him into such a pressure position immediately is a big asking. i think players who become coaches need to work their way up the pressure ladder.

so mark hughes for instance is doing fine....blackburn demanded a top 10 finish and he overachieved on more than one occasion

now its time for a new chakllenge - a club that wants a UEFA cup berth.
if he handles that task successfully for the next three years and gives them a good showing in Europe, then he'll be ready for a club whose aim is to win it.

yeah, why not put him in Queiroz's place, that is the assistant manager, like foster said, so that he learns the trade from SAF himself, for the last 3 years that he remains at MANU

julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.
