Subs: Kusczak, Evans, Neville, Gibson, Berbatov

Džeko and Grafite are not half they were last season, but they, being an unknown quantity and quality could be dangerous and boy, they are sure physical.
Foster
Brown Ferdiand Vidic Evra
Park Fletcher Scholes Anderson Giggs
RooneySubs: Kuszczak, Berbatov, Owen, Valencia, Evans, Neville, O'Shea
I know Rooney is going to struggle alone up front, but it is gonna be like this at least for the first half.

I agree, 5 in midfield for the first half seems to be the way we play now in the big games and in europe now, although seeing as its at home I wonder if the manager may go 4-4-2. That said though, Wolfsburg are a force to behold in attack so our defence has to be sharp.

Grafite scored a hatrick in his last UCL game, he is the overall top scorer.

I thought we started off poorly, but for the rest of the game we were well on top, we had plenty of chances throughout the game. Evra, Giggs, Berbatov and Anderson all played well, Carrick played especially well considering his poor form lately, he was tackling and pressing well, as well as making pinpoint passes and useful runs into the box and he scored the winning goal to!

I hope Owens injury wasn't too bad, ye I thought it was a good performence from most of our players. Ever since Rooney has been staying up top though, it seems his performances have diminished but the fact that he has been scoring goals has covered this up somewhat. I hope he doesn't stay like this and that good form fir him is around the corner. We had two goals wrongly dissallowed too and at times played brilliant football.

I felt Carrick distributed the ball very well, considering he has been on bench for quite a few games. Should have scored in the first half.
I hope we are not too reliant on Giggs to unlock defences. But his experience was ever needed in a match like this.
Berbatov did change the game for United, Wolfsburg were off the blocks faster than us. Created a fair bit for United.

Good performance I thought, Berbatov seemed to change the game, I don't know how he does it but man he can hold onto a ball.
Was surprised owen started as it was reported he was complaining about a groin strain before the game and now he's out for 3 weeks.
Carrick's passing was awesome as well, i think he could find a 50p piece from 40 yards although I think Scholes and Fletcher will come back in at the weekend. -

Berbatov holds the ball well, but, like Valencia, there's zero killer instinct. Carrick looked aggressive for the first time this season. Can anyone clarify this 'new' offside rule? Both Jovetic for Fiorentina and Dzeko yesterday looked offside to me when they scored. Rooney's timing may have been off yesterday, but he gave their whole defence nightmares and forced them to foul repeatedly.

Rooney is born offside

Anderson needs to be accurate with his final ball. I can see he is trying hard.
I am surprised Kuszczak started, maybe to keep Foster on his toes.
Rooney is getting frustrated in most European nights. Please Fergie, help the poor lad out.
