Well, Manchester City are struggling and so are their manager Mark Hughes. Given City's new found oil-dollar driven financial power, the supporters at Eastlands are having serious expectations about their beloved team at a very short span of period.
Football Fancast's Emily Brobyn wonders whether the City fans are unnecessarily making a fuss about Hughes' immediate future at the club.

Will the axe fall on Mark Hughes?

Really, City aren't that bad. In fact, for the most part they have been quite good. Joe Hart has had a really poor start to the season, but I know he's better than that. If his form comes around (and I think it will), City will be competing for a UEFA Cup spot.
Unless you're one of the top 4 (or is it 5 now?), sacking the manager when you're 6th in the league in goal difference is ridiculous.

they could have the best goal difference in the league but it wouldnt matter when they have a points total like they do now.they are shockingly inconsistent, and i blame the players.cant fault hughes for everything.its not his fault richards and dunne have been terrible
You don't have to know lots of chords to play songs that matter -

so they don't need to improve attack...only DEFENSE I say..
mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!

Right, goal difference doesn't really matter in terms of current points and table position, but it is generally a very good indicator of future success. City are a good bet to play like a top 10 side in the second half.

Hughes should be sacked, Mancini, Ranieri or Spaletti should become the new coach or maybe Gus Hiddink
they all work with not so good players and they build teams pretty well from scratch. -

mancini probably the most likely out of that list considering he is available
-
Posted 10 months ago #
Hughes can manage to keep them out of the relegation zone.. ONLY if he makes some great defensive signings
-
Posted 10 months ago #
not had a good start there.wayne bridge not the best signing ever
-
Posted 10 months ago #
better than BALL and these kinda of players....
he needs more defense and a good DM..
he could even sign ambrosini temporarily from Milan till the season ends.. he needs experience badly.
or he can go for santacroce he is a rock that is coming to life -

santocroce is too good for them

I agree with snake, he'll be lucky to make a top half finish. If man city want to challenge for the title next season Hughes has got to go. They need a high profile manager to go along with all that oil money. I cant see Hughes being able to inspire high profile players that city crave.

and managers that played with world class players before.. so that man city becomes an attractive club (other than the money) ..
remember when lampard, drogba and essien wanted to leave chelsea to follow mourinho at inter?.. they would have never considerd inter if mancini was still there.
anyplayer woud love to play under fergie, lippi, mourinho, capello etc.. -

Hughes can manage to keep them out of the relegation zone.. ONLY if he makes some great defensive signingsCity had a very good defensive record under Stuart Pearce, with Dunne and Richards starting most of their games. Here's the current Premiership table, sorted by goals prevented by the goalkeeper:

Their back line is actually doing a decent job, Hart has just let too many in - his 67% save percentage is near the bottom of the league. He's been doing a little better lately, Forest game notwithstanding. Again, he was great last season, so he's shown he can cut it at this level.
