No doubt it was a top paformance from the villans,

but i think it might be a bit premature to put the reds title bid to bed...

good Brazilian DM you have there. Well at least Villa bounced back from their opening day lost to Wigan and their midweek Europa League game.

MU > Wigan > Aston Villa > Liverpool sweet

Hey United fans. I gloat whenever the Scum lose, but let's not be like all the Chelsea and Arse wankers who talk like it's in the bag already! This is shaping up to be a unique season, whatever happens.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

Wesley Sneijder in Milan to tie up Inter deal, oh well i guess we will have to take Robben or VDV.

i saw a story on sky that sneijder is going to turn down inter.dont think he is going to leave right now anyway.i think its going to be a fairly low points total needed to win the league this season, anybody can lose to anyone

I'm just happy for Chelsea, we have not a weak part of the team, Deco's recent performances have convinced me. :)

Great Lescotts gone to Citeh ...

i am surprised no one mentioned Reo-Coker against Pool. he cover more ground than anyone. closed down Gerrard and every other player. and he managed to win a penalty from Gerrard. Superb energy in him.

likewise for Petrov, he shut Torres out like how Bassong did for Spurs. he is quite for a skipper, after Barry left and Laursen retired.

Reo-Coker's a great player. Unfortunately, he's another one who won't stand for any criticism from old school-style coaches. He was right on the cusp of a transfer from the Hammers to United or the Arse in January of 2006, but they both got cold feet. The talent is definitely there.

I've rated Reo-Coker since his days back at Milton Keynes, really like the guy but yeah it's his attitude he's needed to sort out. If he says at Villa and carries on carving out a reputation he could be a surprise rival for Barry's spot next summer, no better time than now to have your best season.
Gotta agree with bobo, lets not get carried away there's plenty of time yet. The ACN should make a big impact Essien is their best player they missed him a lot last season.

Milner as well, he is working hard for his place in the England squad after his first cap against Holland. Helps the defence as well.

who said Insua was not good for the LB spot? He was one of the better players that night. He even set up Torres's goal.

Benayoun was supposed to be the temporary "Alonso" while Aquilani recovers. I guess he does not fit the bill.

Who said Benayoun was ever going to replace Alonso , completely different players.

Don't really think Reo Coker is top quality his distribution isn't great. Petrov though is starting to play really well as deep lying playmaker, Sidwell is a dark house as well

before the Villa game, Gerrard scored more goal against Villa than any other team. Worst performance from the skipper when he had no choice but up-end Reo-Coker when his team just pulled one back.

can you imagine Voronin was their first possible sub to the turn the game around?

surely you could bring Babel on earlier and change things right?

Yeah, I like Stilyan Petrov. He's got a real football brain and can tackle, too. I'd happily swap him for Carrick. Wonder if he gets along with our moody Bulgar?

Reo-coker was good but Petrov was amazing! Benayoun was poor, I watched the replay and his passing is average, he often plays passes which end up being 50/50s. I thought Mascherano played well for the Pool and Insua wasn't half bad, neither was Kuyt, though I don't like him out wide.

Wasn't this supposed to be Babel's season? All the hype from Anfield in the pre-season was that Babel was coming of age but he hasn't offered any spark or quality for us yet. Seems to have waaaaay too much faith in his long shooting ability. I think Gerrard should be pushed back into a more natural central midfield role as a) that's where he is best at, b) he can fill Alonso's void till Aquilani gets fit c) Lucas won't need to start and d) it will bring out more of Mascherano's ability as he won't just need to mop up when Gerrard loses it on a mindless run. Then we can play 4-4-2 with Kuyt up front with Torres and Riera and Johnson providing quality crosses to the two strikers so we have a higher chance of scoring.

Babel is crap, just that. When a youngster is linked with Arsenal you think he might be good given their record with young players but Babel has no ability to control the ball, pass or shoot properly. I think he's fast though you never him run properly as he seems to lumber down the wing not at full speed at any time.

Strangely enough I would have chosen Voronin above Babel for all the above reasons plus Voronin isn't as bad as Liverpool fans think. He's not top quality but he offers something different in creating chances working off the front man. The problem with him though is that he doesn't score.

The problem with Voronin is that "he doesn't score." Well, there it is, in a nutshell.
