...besides the departure of Deco, Ronaldinho and rijkaard? So far they're conquering all in their path, scoring goals in spades, a true goal machine, the likes of which we haven't seen grace the pitch in a very very long time.

Is it due to Guardiola? Henry consolidating himself into the lineup? Alves' contributions? Messi finally becoming he player he was born to be? Eto'o "settling" into his role in the "greatest club in the world"?

Oh what a difference a year makes! :) last year utd were seen as the unstoppable force, this year it's my Barca...dream final would pit the two against each other...OR Arsenal vs barca in a true display of beautiful attacking football!! Henry better make sure he's charging towards the correct goal!!

Ibra's Abracadabra will help Barca win their second Treble, and Eto'o will revitalize Inter Milan!!

Messi isnt as crocked as he was last year, Eto'o seems more commited(maybe cuz of the coach) Alves is superb considering this is first season in the club. Xavi continued his form from Euro08, and with Henry running on the his tru' balls, everything is well oiled.

To answer your question RQ, it has all to do with Ronaldinho and Deco leaving, and Pique and Alves coming in. Defensive stability (Pique), greater counter-attacking threat from Alves, Henry being a regular and more comfortable on the left, Messi growing up, Xavi / Iniesta having the midfield to themselves and no Ronny to haunt Eto'o.

Guardiola surely has had a role to play, but the composition of the team has been a key part of how the team has played, and of course, Pep was the man who shaped the squad so.

no difference every year! they still play the same one-dimentional style they have had over the years and their centre-backs are still shit (drogba shoud have scored today from a host of barca mistakes!). for all those little one-twos on the edge of the area, they still cant break though a team with decent back-four.

messi is a let down again just like last year...too one dimentional and single minded, he is not much of a big name player from the looks of it, or at least he is not great against english teams with decent defenders.

i actually think the team they had in 2006 is alot better than this year. a prime ronaldinho pwns messi anyday!

A prime Ronaldinho pawns Messi? Ronaldinho's prime was at 26/27 Messi is only 21 & I would argue he is already better than Ronaldinho in his prime. Chelsea played really defensively just wait untill next week if Chelsea play with some bottle we will see the true Messi

Wow what'd I tell ya...Chelsea held barca to a goalless draw (I HATE those btw:))...they effectively shackled barca's potent offense...I must say though I was very impressed by Yaya Toure...he's a rock in the barca defense...almost rio Ferdinand-like

    Advantage Chelsea @ the Bridge?

Btw don't lynch me Chelsea fans for saying this but did u all see how myEto'o OWNED Terry? he almost scored too

Drogba REALLY should have scored with that one perfect chance: he's supposed to be a better marksman than that

Hleb still couldn't find the back of the net to save his life ;)

Does anyone know WHY Arsenal sold Henry? He looked dangerous everytime he went down the left flank

Because Henry was constantly injured...Henry also wanted to end his career at Barca I think.

Isnt the difference between barca 07-08 and 08-09 obvious? Last year barca were playing with 4 forwards a match eto'o henry messi ronaldinho and only 2 midfielders. This year theres just the 3 forwards(they're on fire) and a solid midfield takes the form of yaya iniesta and xavi. Also Chelsea's tactics were great at the nou camp but at the bridge they will try a much more open attacking game in front of their own fans which will probably lead to their downfall, Sorry Chelsea fans.

actually barca only fielded all of the fantasy four together twice last year, they alway play 4-3-3. so the answer these guys can never change.
