What do the commentators mean by "fast track" at the Olympics?

    You may have heard the commentators say that Beijing has a very fast track. What does that mean? I know that it means that fast times are to be expected on such a track, but what makes for a "fast track"?

    That's why I think it's such a shame that Usain Bolt eased up in his 100m final, even though he did break the WR. He might have cracked 9.50+s if he went all out. Here's hoping he does go all out in the 200m and break Michael Johnson's WR. The way he's running, I'd be surprised if he doesn't...:)

    Low air resistance? Favourable wind conditions?

    low air resistance because of higher altitude (hence lower air density)...
