Valencia have risen from the dead and, along with their grim reaper David Villa, are conquering the conquistadores in Spain. Le Mans, despite selling star striker Tulio De Melo in the summer, are third in the Ligue 1 ahead of Bordeaux, Toulouse, and Makelele-inspired PSG.
Just imagine a Champions league group stage match next year: Hull City vs. Hoffenheim. How strange, but, in an inexplicable way, exciting. To see two newly promoted sides in the Champions League would be a breath of fresh air and would be a lesson to teams like Tottenham and Dortmund that you can't buy success.
