This was sent in by Arvin:

    Torres vs Huntelaar

Both 23, 6 foot 1 inches and on the market.

    Who is the better player?

In my opinions it's Torres in terms of greater technical proficiency, pace, skill, potential and experience at a top European league (given the fact that Huntelaar has only ever played in the dutch league), however…Huntelaar is a more natural goalscorer and hence his goals to game ratio is far more prolific than that of Torres, albeit in a weaker league.

If Liverpool can attain both then the question is redundant, but if you had to go for one or the other, who would it be?

Much as I hate to say, Torres would be their man to go.

Although it would fill me with immense joy to see either fail miserably at Anfield. :)

both are quality players, but i'd plump for torres too. huntelaar isn't half-bad though, and he'd be a real good signing for any english club. he'd probably fit in a lot quicker than torres and give more goals tho.

btw, if torres goes to liverpool, does it mean the end of bellamy's career at anfield? i can't see rafa letting go of kuyt simply for his workrate while rafa's constant tinkering means beanpole crouch is priceless in the tactical scheme of things

Personally, i would go for Huntelaar myself. Torres is a bit of a tart of a player. His goal scoring record is not great, considering he takes the penalties for At. Madrid, and he has a tendancy to go missing in games - i also do not know if he'll be up to the physicality and pace of the premiership. He has pace and strength himself, but the game in spain is completely different. Fernando Morientes was a player much better equiped to take to the premiership, and he failed miserably.

Huntelaar, at the (possibly) lower price would represent less of a gamble in my opinion.

They are different players and therefore the suitability would depend on how the rest of the team plays.

If it is 'pool, I would say Huntelaar is a better bet because the area they really lack is that of a potent goal scorer which Huntelaar is.

But for man u, who need a more skillful player in terms of making space for others, holding up the ball etc I would pitch for torres

Torres is over-rated. yes he can be brilliant at times, but too many games he does nothing. The price that Liverpool look like paying is way too high.

This has come up a few times, hopefully this will change at Liverpool.

Kuyt won't be out this season in my opinion...

    Aahhh...you're here, I see :)

Torres is a good buy, I'd be happier sending Huntelaar to Anfield than Torres. He's a good player, let's see if he gets the sort of environment under Benitez to thrive.

u've to admit torres would be a better signing as he's more complete. but huntelaar is still developing and only time will tell how good he can get.
