Check out this link to Top 50 football salaries (updated Feb 2009)...what do you think...are they worth it?

    http://www.futebolfinance.com/en/os-50-maiores-salarios-de-jogadores-de-futebol-20082009/

Does anyone know if these salaries are the highest in all of professional sports? How do they compare with American football, tennis, the NBA and baseball for example?

Ibra's Abracadabra will help Barca win their second Treble, and Eto'o will revitalize Inter Milan!!

Nope formula one drivers earn the most. Tiger Woods earns more than any footballer as well.

How does Owen get the same wage as Rooney he is never fit & never plays. Lampard & Terry earn more than Eto'o what a joke!

formula one drivers puts their lifes at risk ffs, of course they get more. nobody deserves that much money for kicking a ball

i can see why kaka rejected city...he is top the list ffs, and why the fuck they start complaining about city over spending now? as this list shown clubs in spain and italy, especially real, inter and barca over spend (in both transfer fee and wages, remember zidane 47m, figo 38m, crespo, 35m, veri 32m? and more) more than anyone else year and year out!!!

    Hmmm...interesting stuff

One could argue though that since football is the most popular sport in the world (much more popular than Formula 1) its players deserve to be the highest paid in the world, as they provide the most entertainment to the general populace and return on investment to their owners. Speaking of Formula 1 what's the appeal of a bunch of guys chasing each other around a track without them ever breaking a sweat? To me f1 doesn't even qualify as a sport because true sportsmen SWEAT and move them limbs!!!

Kaka's reasons to stay in Milan weren't of a financial nature. If he had been prompted by greed, he would have gone to City where they were offering TWICE his weekly wages at Milan (hence TWICE the annual salary)...imagine that

they do sweat in f1. its well hot in that massive jacket and they have to sit next the engine for 2 hours. plus it take a lot of focus to go around the track like 50 times. i cant see the appeal in it but i think its harder to do well in f1 than a game of football

    Duff, dude

Good call on the WRC...was checking some clips of the on-board camera on the driver's dashboard on youtube and it's actually exciting

Anyone watch rugby on this forum? i was watching this Rugby Sevens tournament on TV here in the States and it's actually pretty entertaining...rugby, as you know, is the forefather of American football

Of the 3 rugby codes, which one's the most entertaining? Rugby league, rugby union or rugby sevens? oh, and don't forget Australian football...how does Gaelic football compare?

F1 drivers are some of the fittest okes in the world man.. their neck muscles are insane... you try putting 5 G's of pressure on your neck for over and hour and see if it doesn't break...

they also sweat so much that they lose almost 2kgs a race!! 2kg in 2 hours is crazy!

i love soccer but i hate it when people say that they just drive a car around a track. their reaction times to handle that car could make Berbatov look slow... so don't underestimate F1 drivers, they react when hurling down a straight at 300km/hour noone i know can think that fast

that's a real funny list....considering the position of Owen, Sheva and Kanoute in relation to Torres, Xavi and Aguero....

Rugby League or Sevens are the most entertaining, if a more fast paced game is what you like then Sevens is your game, loads of trys, loads of movement, but then there's League, it is the complete Rugby game, you have fast paced counter attacks where a team can travel the entire length of the field with the ball passing between around 10 players hands for a try. Then you have the big hits, youtube rugby league tackles and you will understand, not just your average rugby union tackles but hits that could lay any normal person out easy, ofcourse they are both no competition for the magic game of Football

Hello, 911? It's Quagmire. Yeah, it's caught in the window this time.

How can you say that Raikonnen is the best? I love Ferrari (Schumy passion), but Hamilton is much more talented. Raikonnen is just a talented driver. Nothing more.

I know people may hate Hamilton because he is black or because he is English, but he is amazing. Alonso is also amazing, if only he had some brains...

    Cue the Nani jokes...

As for the wages... well it is every club's decision what they want to pay their stars, so can't really comment (it would be like other commenting on which type of pasta I eat), but I would not pay half of those players as much as they are being paid. Actually, in the top 20, I think about 6 or 7 are worth their wages.

anything over 50k is too much imo.nobody needs all that money

as for raikonnen,i guarantee you if everybody drove the exact same cars,he would leave the rest standing.hamilton won last season due to ferrari's technical problems,he couldnt even handle the car without traction control half the time ffs!

i can say without a shadow of a doubt Shumi is the greatest driver who ever lived... the way he handled his car was amazing.specially in the wet...

i don't like hamilton because he is reckless, he def is exciting to watch but the way he drives is going to end badly some day.. he def has all the tools to become one the all time greats if not the greatest. i guess i dont reli hate him as more the team he drives for and how they treated a 2 times world champ and choose a rookie over him.. but hey thats how it goes he's the flavor of the week.

but i think this year if ferrari can keep their technical issues in line then raikkonen will win or atleast be there at the end.
