After a stellar performance against Premier League minnows Burnley in which Benayoun could have scored more than his hat-trick, can Yossi begin to cement his place in Benitez's first eleven?

Until now he's been more of a super sub, claiming first team spots only due to the inadequacy of both Rieira and Babel. He finished the end of last season in style though, claiming a header that stunned the Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League tie against the Spanish club as well as putting in his fair share of decent shifts in the EPL. With Alonso now gone, can Yossi begin rekindle some of the quality he displayed at West Ham on a consistent basis?

Don't forget he's getting older, and so if he were to "cement a spot in the first team" as you said, it would be only for a season, maybe two.

Im sure he'd kill for a season or two in the first team at Liverpool. He hasn't really got the calibre to be playing for one of Europe's best teams but he has been putting in the performances so it's hard to knock him.

Yossi's been superb for Liverpool, and if he can keep his form I can see him being praised by fans in the same way we love Torres, Gerrard, Carra, Hyypia etc...

But you can never 'cement' a spot in the first team in Liverpool, with Benitez's rotation policy...only Gerrard's capable of that. :P

And Torres? I think Yossi's more of a cult hero rather than all time legend though, but he can play a big part in their season so far. He's been their best performer as Gerrard has chosen to not really turn up so far

I'm a big fan of Yossi, I didn't like the way he was portrayed as "an average squad player" when he arrived at Pool, he has always put in a performance and now he looks ready to shine. Two hat-tricks for a winger ain't bad either, got one against Besiktas a while ago, think he beat Ronaldo's record!

Im afraid to say until recently I don't think he's ever performed much more than an above average squad player. He isn't renowned for turning games on their heads or having anything extra special, but he is performing at a consistently good level at the moment.

I think Yossi is a quality player but its hard to fit him into the Liverpool team on a regular basis. His best position the role which Gerrard plays but he can do a good job out wide, but sometimes he'll have to miss out due to the work rate of Kuyt and the balance Riera provides on the left.

Yossi is a good ball runner, dribbler, but his passing ability leaves a lot to be desired which makes it difficult for him to cement a place in a side that is really improving its build-up play to a good level.
