Carlos Queiroz is being courted by Portugal for the manager's job.
United have apparently offered him a £500,000 per annum pay rise in an attempt to keep him. It looks like he's minded to go. From Queiroz' point of view he could do a good job with a world class Portugal squad in the next world cup and enhance his prospects of taking over from SAF when he retires in the next couple of years. A world cup in South Africa would have a particular pull for Queiroz, who was born and bred in Mozambique, in Southern Africa.
If the only way of keeping Queiroz at United was a promise to hand him SAF's job in a year or two, should United do just that?
Losing Queiroz right now, could be a bigger blow than losing Ronaldo. Shouldn't United bite the bullet now about the succession and secure Queiroz? Or do you think United should keep their options open for the likes of Mourinho and Mark Hughes?
