They've stopped Ronaldinho even though he's set to leave, presumably to facilitate his transfer. Odds on whether they'll stop Messi?

i dont think clubs can block underage players from leaving
I dont think it should be up to a club to say if a player can or cannot play for their country it should be 100% up to the player
the clubs are bound by FIFA to give their players up for FIFA-sanctioned international tournaments. Not bound by the IOC.
They'll probably let Messi go though - considering that it's every young player's dream to play there. Ando's gone for the same reason, Tevez shone at the 04 Olympics.
I think it's stupid for them to block players playing for their country. Barca told Ronaldiniho he was "surplus to requirements" and then say that he can't go the Olympics. Clubs like that are greedy. As Holte said it should be 100% upto the player
I totally agree Bamber, its the Olympics for god sakes. I mean, thats a dream of so many youngsters.
Barcelona should let Messi go for the simple reason that Messi is young and he can help Argentina take the gold again besides its not like Barca has other players to replace him while he is gone
