i think this deal (if it goes through) will spark the rest of the transfer market into some much-needed activity. here's my reasoning:

City does not undrestand that players want to play in UCL and not many are c*&ts like Robinwhore only playing for money.

It's apparently fallen through, though I can't say I'm surprised. Eto'o had his representatives inform the club

i wouldn't be surprised if it was just a ploy to get more money. the current reasoning is that he wants to stay at barca just to annoy them. if this is the case, than i'm sure barca could bench him the whole year and/or demote him to their liga b side or whatever. that's not going to help him when his contract runs out at the end of next season. nor will it help him gain form before the african cup of nations. he's also 28 now, so a year wasted in his prime is not want eto'o wants to do.

all this of course rests on the fact that barca will not allow such a player to play for them again. would they after what he's pulled?

Apparently, he wants a signing on fee equivelent to half his transfer fee which he would not be due, should he move to a "better" club at the end of his contract.

    I agree duff....If they decide to pay Eto'o 250k a week I will have a hearty laugh!!!!

Eto'o definitely would have caught himself an nice fish.... I wish they land Tevez too...I want to see where exactly all of these fowards will play.....Binho, Bellamy, Eto'o, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Jo, Benjani. And we all know there are more....

World class players want to be on teams that will contend for the Champions league title each year and players that go to teams like Man City are just in it for the $. but, again 200K a week is a lot of $$$$ that will take care of him and his family for generations. If Man. City can grab Tevez then they could push for a Champions league spot, probably knocking out Arsenal.
