okay 1stly...iv seen its usually manutd fans here so lets not b partial...lets view this as a neutral wld..
now messi and ronaldo...undoubtedly the golden boys of this gen....1 touted 2 b d new maradona while the other touted 2 b the 1st cristiano ronaldo..at a tender age the 2 have preformed exceptionally and can do still better...i personally think that the future belongs to these 2...
so whos better???i checked out a video on youtube that day...ronaldo vs messi...and i sat watched it a couple of times and noted a couple of things down:
1)skill- ronaldo is more skillful than messi...there r no 2 ways about it...watching that video showed ronaldo's dribbing,ball-control and touch is second 2 none and is better then messi's..
so its ronaldo 1 messi 0
2) quickness- both seem 2 be relly fast...and seem 2 have great acceleration and stamina and neither relly help out at the back...1 read a comment 4 that video which said quickness-messi dribbling -ronaldo...i dont agree with the former...there is absolutely nthn 2 suggest either messi is quicker than ronaldo or vice versa...the fact is...both are exceptionally quick...so this 1's a scoreless draw
its still ronaldo 1 messi 0
3) aerial ability..i think there can b no doubt this time...ronaldo is phenomenal in the air...and while i confess that i have seen a lot lot lot more of ronaldo then i have seen of messi...but i hav seen enough of messi 2 say hes not even close 2 ronaldo wen it comes 2 aerial ability
so its a thumping victory 4 ronaldo...and its ronaldo 2 messi 0
4)striking the ball..i think again...the verdict is pretty clear...messi is a gr8 striker of the ball but ronaldo is better..
5) finishing and defending:- both are clincical and dont relly help out at the back much...
so its ronaldo 3 messi 0
now this might make it seem that messi is no match 4 ronaldo...but unfortunately i rate ronaldo only slightly better then messi...the reason 4 that is messi utilises his talent better than ronaldo does..ronaldo sometimes tries 2 overdo stuff...and while hes no-longer selfish...he does tend 2 b 2 flashy sometimes..and does on some occasions lack that end-product..in other words...ronaldo will give u that goal and while give u that piece of quality that leads 2 the goal...but he also wastes possesion...and from what i have seen of messi he never really wastes possesion
this is crucial so i give 2 2 messi here...so the final scoreline reads
ronaldo 3-messi 2
please give ur comments...and 1 more thing...how cum there r so few of us blogging here?? i mean, there r loadz of football crazy ppl...and this is a gud site rite? how cum there are only 20-30 of us here regularly expressing or opinions??

Messi is great... just not the greatest
Lets see if he continues to improve...Ronaldo seems to get better every week...now that he's shown us all his foot wagging skills he's started to only uses them when he needs to...
Sir Alex has helped him grow, perhaps in a way no-other coach/manger would have...despite blowing by everyone from his first day on the Ma U practice fields he's learned he's not a one man team even if most oppositions consider him a one man wrecking crew! - he shows no sign of having peaked, his enthusiasm, passion and love of the game may not be better than anyone else's, but it's enough to ensure his superior ability keeps him atop of the football world.... Kaka & Messi need to show they can improve, I'm not betting on it

i like messi better, ronaldo might score a little more sometimes but messi over all is a better player (my point of view) Also i might be a little bi est because I hate Manu!

Both are world class players. Enough said.

I think the eventual conclusion will be:
- Ronaldo is more valuable as a match-winner and perhaps more consistent injuries-wise. Scores a LOT more than Messi.
- Messi can be relied on to produce the goods in really-big games, perhaps more than Ronaldo.
Ronaldo wins, hands down. Talent isn't everything (shock! horror!)

Week in week out, I'd plum for Ronaldo. For the really big games, I'd go for Messi. On balance, Ronaldo out in front.
Ronaldo has the opportunity in the remaining games of the season to really turn it on against the big boys, beginning with Liverpool on Grand Slam Sunday. Stand out performances in the EPL against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea (if anything is still riding on that game), and against Roma and then hopefully Barcelona in the CL semi-finals would make Ronaldo indisputably the outstanding player in Europe this season; and arguably the world's best.
Ronaldo's performances against the Big Four to date might need some further analysis. Does he have a free role in those games, or is he normally given a specific (and more defensive) job to do?
With United's greater defensive strength in midfield this season, is SAF now going to give Ronaldo his head and say "attack them" right across the pitch. At the moment, unless Ronaldo scores, it's difficult to see who else will.

Not really a question. Messi is in a slump currently (maybe because he is injured), but Ronaldo has been on fire all season. They are different players so you cannot compare them but I would rather put Ronaldo in my Fantasy footy team. Also Ronaldo has a better attitude than Messi who thinks that little Dos Santos is unworthy to receive a pass from his majesty.

hmmm...thnx every1 4 ur comments..sum things i wld like 2 say is with age and experience, ronaldos gonna waste posseson less...and hes gonna master that unique technique of striking a free-kick and b more consistent wid free-kicks as well...so hes gonna b a better player (scary thot)..and hes also gonna preform in big games...thus ronnie is gonna improve and i dont think kaka and messi will improve that much 2 b honest
i hav 2 disagree with u andrei...i think messi and ronaldo r very similar players....tho this season ronaldo has gone more central...but he remains essentialy a winger like messi is...

Don't know why you should jump to the assumption that I'm going by what media hacks say about Ronaldo. As you should know by now, I tend to express my own opinions.
The FA Cup final in 2005 against Arsenal and the second leg against Roma CL last year apart, my personal impression is that Ronaldo does not usually dominate a Big Four/big CL game in the way he does other games.
It's not a question of stats; it's a matter of impression and opinion.

hmm...dats true frankie...he was dissapointing at the milan tie to say the least...prolly kaka's preformance thr was what won him the player of the year..
and Xerxes....dat was bout d stupidest thing iv ever heard...quaresma is not even close 2 ronaldo...jus cuz quaresma preformed better than ronaldo in 1 match 4 portugal doesnt mean hes better....

fatehsmann I'am a big fan of Ronaldo dont get me wrong, but Queresma is much more technical then Ronaldo but Ronaldo is much faster, for me personally I like Queresma more because of his skills.By the way this has nothing to do with that international match.
2nd, You cant even compare Messi and Ronaldo to each other they are way different kinds of players and they play different positions.

Ronaldo wins hands down .....no doubts about that. ( my pic should say whom i support). The basis of my decision is that:
1 Ronny has way greater skills than messi
2 ronny has scored way many goals than messi, though messi might prove to be valuable in
big games and also produces more assists but ronny is definately a matchwinner...
3 true ronaldo wastes much more possession than messi but eventually he makes up for it (and what 'bout ronaldo's fantastic dipping freekick)
that's why ronaldo is going to be the player of the year 2008

both are great players in there on way, i partly agree with BDCondell but Ronaldo is better in aerial ability, Messi has more skill and talent and Ronaldo is quicker. ofcourse Ronaldo is scoring more regurarly but Messi's skill cannot be overemphasized as well. how about last reason when he scored a hattrick against Madrid in the three all draw. its 2-2 for me to these guys.
