The Ronaldinho of two years ago versus the Ronaldo of today is not even a contest. Ronaldinho was on target to become the best player to ever play football had he continued like he was playing in 2005, Ronaldo is not even the best player in the world today.

Comparing the two today is not a contest either. Ronaldinho has not done anything worthwhile for about 18 months while Ronaldo in the best player in the Premier League.

To compare the two careers like we compare those of Pele and Maradona and Cruyff we will have to wait, watch and make sure that we remeber accurately how these players play every seasons, not judge them on a fantastic season or a absolutely disimal one.

In about 13 years we will discuss the greats of our time while some kid like myself today will wonder what it was like to watch Zidane & co. play. We cannot make a just comparison yet.

    Cue the Nani jokes...

At this moment in time, Ronaldo is the better player and is contributing more to his team. Ronaldhino is not at ease with himself. We will have to see what happens with him over the next 12 months. The right move could rejuvenate his career. Look at Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He has been on fire for Madrid since his transfer from Manchester United. The same could happen with Ronaldhino, but he may need to settle down with some nice girl (not the kind he is going to meet in night clubs where Robinho has to send out minders to fetch 40 condoms!) Unless he does so, he could ruin his career and life, like George Best and Maradona did. I hope not. He seems a genuinely nice guy.

Ronaldo on the other hand can be a pretty single-minded, selfish so and so, just ask Tevez who wasn't allowed by Ronaldo to go for his hat-trick against Derby. In the same position (3-1 up in injury time), I'm pretty sure that Ronaldhino would have let Messi take the penalty. Does that suggest that one player is mentally tougher than the other, more single minded and professional or just more selfish?
