Hypothetically, if you were in charge of Man Utd and one of either Ronaldo or Rooney had to go, which will you sell? And why?

Rooney, Ronaldo is more versatile and is producing results right now

Yea, that is what I would have said, but did you see what happened to Man Utd every time Rooney did not play this season? He does not score as much but I think that he helps the team a lot in ways in which we do not see. More like a version of Deschamps in an offensive position, if you will.

I think it's because he's not scoring that United are doing well this term, he is to United what Shevchenko was to Chelsea, he was essentially a decoy, he didn't score as much, but because every team knows his scoring potential, they're all marking him and leaving Ronaldo with a lot more room than he should be given thus allowing him to score and take the glory while Rooney is the unsung hero

ROONEY TAKES A GOOD TEAM....and turns them into a great team

for me it would be ronnie.rooney's such a hard worker and his approach play is ridiculously good. ronaldo may get all the personal accolades because he's scoring so many but without rooney he wouldn't be getting nearly as many
also, does anyone know the exact date barcelona united (fingers crossed) will be? wanna try and book flights earlier to save a few bob...

It would be (fingers corssed) on April 22nd or 23rd. Got a ticket? You lucky ahem... dude.

Absolutely agree about Rooney being totally invaluable. But have to laugh at him being compared to Shevchenko at Chelsea! Thats the best joke I've heard today!
Rooney's work rate is unparalleled. His contribution to the team is immense and those who see United play every week know that. Against Roma - if you looked closely enough it was his superb turn and sprint that led to the first goal. He will start scoring soon - but he will not be a great goal scorer - albeit a scorer of great goals!

Rooney for sure:
a) There's a ready-made replacement for him in Tevez.
b) Ronaldo is a better player.
c) Ronaldo is more marketable globally. -

Rooney for sure:
a) There's a ready-made replacement for him in Tevez. Not true. Tevez is a uni dimensional player.Rooney's game has far more variety than Tevez's.
b) Ronaldo is a better player.
Not true. Ronaldo is a better on form player. Let's see how long he can maintain his hot streak. Besides they bring different things to the team and can't be compared side by side.
c) Ronaldo is more marketable globally.
Who the fuck cares about that? That's exactly the wrong reason to hold on to a player.

i would stop supporting united if someone behind the scenes made this choice. THis is a stupid forum

Ronaldo. The money he'll earn will help buy the next 2 Ronaldos.
Rooney is rarer than Ronaldo (like it or not). A striker who can play on the wings, in central midfield and as a fullback.
I could go on and on...

ronaldo right now is the junk, so was rooney when he scored that fire shot, but rooney has maintained even during all his injuries, i bet you that if ronaldo got hurt once, he wouldnt be the same, besides rooney is man utd, ronaldo was planning on moving to real, rooney over ronaldo anyday

i would sell ronaldo as rooney helps the team more and we would get so much moeny we could improve are team

Definitely, Ronaldo.
Rooney's invaluable, and you cannot compare him with Shevchenko at Chelsea.
Ronaldo will leave next season if you dont let him go this season, theoretically speaking. So there's always question mark over Ronaldo's future. When did you last hear rumours about Rooney leaving Man Utd?
Rooney is just great in every position he's been put in. Given he's got a bad temperament but no doubt it will improve over the years. And as he matures, he will learn to control all aspects of his game, including leaving some defending to others.
There is no doubt in my mind about Rooney right now.

ya i would defintely sell ronaldo too.rooney is indispensable,he is absolutely vital to our attacking play.well, not sure if he will be now with berba but hopefully he will start scoring bucketloads of goals

nah rooney and berbatov are going to be brilliant together as long as they dont get in each others way. I am gutted Berba has gone, Man U will no doubt win the prem now, i feel the pundits backing Chelsea has been a little obvious and has missed the point of how sturdy United were. They will need Ronaldo back sooner rather than later.
as for the question, get rid of Ronaldo, hes a cock and the cash would get you anyone you wanted....however the amount of goals he scored, is there anyone else out there than can do that? In a way although Rooney's absence was noticable last season when he didnt play, there are plenty of players out there that could play his position and bring somehting to the team.... anyway, i am babbling....

Certainly perspective have changed over the past five months. I would still get rid of Ronaldo. Mind you, after the mess he made this summer, I cannot stand the guy. He was professional and all (compared to Berbatov and others), but this is all due to Fergie. Had there been a ball-less manager at United, Ronaldo would have been long gone by now. Anyway, I cannot wait until he leave United and I would be very pissed if Rooney was to leave.

As much as it kills me to say this ronny must go out of the two. Rooney has never even hinted that he wants to leave united he is very comitted to tell you the truth here's a list of the players united should keep b4 ronaldo. Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Anderson, Tevez, Rooney, Scholes & Hagreaves they have never messed united around like ronny did in the summer. He needs to earn back our respect in a big way!
