What's with Rafa constantly trying to rewrite history? And not by winning titles, mind you, just by whinging on and on ad nauseum.

In his latest rant, he says:

    - No one has ever stood up to Ferguson or said anything against him
    - That United are scared of Liverpool
    - That Ferguson knows that Liverpool are the better side

Fact #1: Ferguson has had his share of managers go up against him, from Keegan to Wenger to Mourinho. In two cases they've won against him in the war of words and in one case, specifically Mourinho, Fergie didn't push matters until Mourinho's third season, when United finally won their first title after 3 years.

Fact #2: United's success in the last 2 decades has seen plenty of managers, players and journo hacks say and write negative stuff about United and Ferguson.

Fact #3: United are more scared of Arsenal and Barcelona than they are of Liverpool. If anything, United are supremely pissed at Liverpool. More than the chance of winning a third title, Fergie will use the shame and anger from the Old Trafford defeat to motivate his players in the league.

Fact #4: United knows that Barcelona are the better side, just as they were last season. Then again, Chelsea have been the better side on paper for the last 3 seasons. We've stayed of them in all 3 seasons. Being close doesn't count, only holding your nerve when you're ahead counts, and so far, Liverpool have done nothing worth being scared of.

It seems as if Rafa is trying to turn the Premier League against United and Ferguson by constantly feeding into the false notion that a) United have been unchallenged and b) Ferguson has manipulated the league at will.

Fact #5: Mike Riley was under so much pressure in the FA Cup semi that refused to give two penalties, both that would have been given on another day, by another ref, even in a final. Was Riley manipulated by the press and brought under pressure? Yes. Who was responsible for it?

Managers do whatever it takes to get their teams to win. Wenger has refused to see the truth for years. Mourinho has his way of attracting all the attention and taking the spotlight off his players. Ferguson plays mind games.

What does Benitez do? Apparently, he rewrites history.

None of this matters if you win fuckall in the end.

BAM.its sad that most liverpool fans,if not all of them, will dismiss this as bullshit, even though deep down they know that its true.we are the better side, the league table shows it.so they beat us at home, big deal.so did city, and they were an average team.its all rubbish to attempt to distract people from the fact that we are the superior team in english football

    Alreet Lads.

Liverpool fan here. United are the beter team, and have been since Dalglish stepped down from Liverpool - a blind man could see that and most everyone knows it too. Liverpool fans (as any other fans) simply do not like to admit it. It is clearly undeniable, however, that Liverpool are the team on form at the moment and playing the best football. It is the reason we are having to put up with all Fergie's sheeeeite. He always directs the spiel to the team he believes are the biggest threat to United. (I think its a bit like kicking sand in your opponents face but then United are used to playing dirty aren't they??)

In response to Ahmeds points of concern:

No one has ever stood up to Ferguson or said anything against him.

** Benitez is not on about managers standing up to Fergusson - he's on about the way the FA and those in charge let Fergusson spout off and iniate these altercations season after season.

That United are scared of Liverpool

** They may not be scarred of Liverpool but they certainly are aware of us and see us as the greatest threat this season . Fergusson's "mind games" are proof enough of this.

That Ferguson knows that Liverpool are the better side

** This is clearly untrue and has most likely been alluded to simply to get a rise out United staff and supporters alike - hey look, it appears to have worked!!! ;)

It seems as if Rafa is trying to turn the Premier League against United and Ferguson by constantly feeding into the false notion that a) United have been unchallenged and b) Ferguson has manipulated the league at will.

Rafa is just having his turn and calling it 'the way he sees it'

PS. If anyone is trying to turn a league against a team surely Fergy must be guilty for trying to get every one to sympathise for poor old Blackburn. (Terrible!) :)

Your Fact#5 (fact???? surely not??) :)

If you genuinely belive that Rafa's rants etc got into Riley's head then it's all been worth it and Fergie has met his match in the mind games dept. hahahahaha

    Liverpool 3-0 Man United
    Benitez (Saturday, 13 September 2008)
    Benitez (Saturday, 14 March 2009)
    Benitez (Sunday, 19 April 2009)

Managers do whatever it takes to get their teams to win

Agreed - Benitez is doing whatever it takes to get his team to win (All the best to him!)

None of this matters if you win fuckall in the end

Agreed - We probably won't win the war (in this case the premiership title) but we are certainly winning the battle (in this case the mind games)

PS Don't you just love the way Benitez is appearing to be taking to Tevez about moving to Liverpool - now thats mind games!! That one must be getting under Fergy's nose esp. seems as Man U wont get a penny if Liverpool pay out for him!!!!

    Cheers Lads

As a liverpool fan i have watched for years as fergie as wound up every other manager who were a danger to his team and not to mention his views on refs who dare not add on five or six mins injury time when utd are loseing and o my god if the ref has the cheek to give a decision aginst him and his team how many penos have been given to visiting teams at old trafford very few it seems that he can say what he wants about the refs and nothing happens and if david moyes so much as looks at a forth offiacal he gets a fine I think that rafa is dead right to stand up for his team that is how you get respect fergie tried the same with arsene wenger when he arrived but like benitez and mourinio he stood up to fergie,I dont see how utd fans can think that its fine when fergie does it but when anyone else does it its wrong,a big part of been a manager at a top club is the mental part of the game thats why fergie is such a good man manager if your a player at man utd fergie will back you 120% and make you think that you are the best and he will throw attention over to other clubs when his team arent playing well ..so simple but genius i think fergie learnt some of that from the legend that was bill shankly :D :D

Sometime Media Quotation can be misleading. I dont think Rafa really mean to say all that.

Yeah sure, Koppy, Benitez is an innocent little baby......man, Liverpool fans are just as dumb as their manager is. They wont notice a thing even if the truth stabbed them in the heart.

I didn't say Rafa is innocent. Rafa got his wrong but this is about respect between Rafa and Fergie. i am just saying that since Rafa got no respect from fergie why should he give him that? At least Rafa offer congraguation to ManU as the club which is a great club. He did not disrecpect the club as a whole did he?
