Granted it's still early on in the year but who are some candidates for 2008-2009? Messi and Ronaldo have to be in the mix for the 3rd year running

Ibra's Abracadabra will help Barca win their second Treble, and Eto'o will revitalize Inter Milan!!

Doubtless, Messi will win everything, especially if Barca win the ECC. Nevertheless, the 'Chemical Man' jokes get louder in Latino media. If he sweeps all before him, be prepared for the media to turn on him and demand testing just as the Europeans did during the Lance Armstrong years of domination in cycling. Keeping that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised to see an alternative 'surprise' choice like Fernando Torres or Michael Essien take the awards.

I STILL MISS NOBBY & BOBBY!!!

Messi should win it this time. Ribery will be close. Xavi must be 3rd. Ronaldo, Vidic, Gerrard Lamps will be in contention too.

Why will Ribery be close the German league is overrated & he's very ordinary from what I have seen of him. Bayern aren't even 1st in the Bundesliga! Gerrard, Xavi, Iniesta & Eto'o should be miles ahead of Ribery! I would even say Schweinsteiger

3 goals,7 assists in the CL is a very impressive record.personally,i have only been dissapointed by him twice.i think he would be a brilliant signing for any club,he IS one of the worlds best

azz have you seen bayern play this year? ribery is carrying them, almost.

messi in all likelihood, unless someone else has an absolute blinder in the first half of next season (and messi gets crocked again).

Ronaldo? Maybe. But it would have to be horribly cruel to not give it to Messi.

Schweini hasn't even come close to his potential yet. He needs to play for a flair team. There's only Ribery this year in the Bundesliga, although some of the young talent at Hofenheim and Wolfsburg will be awesome next seasonif they don't tampoered with by Bayern over the Summer.

Yes! You are right, Azz. I believe his hot long-legged Valkyrie model fiancé will only let him leave Deutschland if it's to Milan and she can get to strut her stuff, too!

    Drogba is way too far-fetched.

As an oracle, I shall proclaim, "MESSI".

If Barcelona go on to win the CL, which I think they will, it will be Messi. Eto'o and Henry will be close but the Argentinian is definitely in a class of his own. I can't believe Ronaldo is mentioned in the same breath. When this arrogant little prat moves to Spain or Italy, it will all be revealed. Messi is twice the player he is, without the " baby throwing toys out of pram" attitude.

i know i am gona get killed for this but in all honesty i dont hink messi is a good player. he shows flashes of greatness but i dont think he is physicly strong enough. he is weak, not only in his actual size but also in his strike power. i honestly beleive that he would never survive in league like the prem. he would be permantly injured, and i just feel that players like a barton or gallas would just make mince meet of him. it has to be said he reminds me of ronaldo before he filled in his boots. and although none else agrees i just think that he is rubish and it is the barcelona team around him that makes him good. look at him in argentina. he is possibly the most inconsitant player ever! i hate the people who are sitting on their knees waiting to suck his dick. it really pisses me off. i feel that if somone in the media says that someone is class you just beleive it. i have to say that i think the award belongs to one of these players

    gerrard

    torres

    bosingwa

    frey

    julio ceaser

    vidic

beckhas yes beckham he has been milans best player since he came. he is behind almost every goal they score

    iniesta

    xavi

and do you really think that the attack of barca is that much superior to uniteds defense? do you think messi and henry and eto are that much better than vidic rio and edwin. i have to say no. but we may just see in the champions league final. but to me no. not messi. i would rather see ANYONE else win.

Of those, I could go for Vidic and Xavi.

And yes, we are going to torutre, rape, dismember, and brutally cut off your digits and wait for you to bleed to death because you insulted Messi.

Don't cut off Rhian's fingers. He'll have to type out his truculent rants with his nose or toes. Perish the thought! ! like those flashy little mazy runs Messi does, but, yes, the likes of Mascharano, Palacios, Pantsil, Pogatetz and Essien would wear him out in the EPL. He'sstill going to take all theawards, anyway!
