it is my view that andrea pirlo would not be a good signing for chelsea this summer. The amount of center midfeilders chelsea allready possess added to the issue of the age of chelsea's team suggests to me that it would be a step in the wrong direction.
There is no doubt that pirlo is a technically gifted player and he has been a good servant to both milan and italy. But too many times before i have seen players come to england with big reputations and even bigger expectations and flop because they cannot cope with the physical demands of our top flight. granted some of these players adapt over a year or two and become successful eg.adebayorand dirk kuyt. but bearing in mind pirlo's age, i doubt he has a year or two left to adapt.
i would love to see what everyone else thinks so please post your views.

pirlo is over his peak, VERY slow, and would die if he went up against the likes of masherano, Anderson, palacios. he would flop worse then shevchenko.

The logic behind Pirlo is that he provides what Deco should have, Joe Cole used to provide and Robinho would have provided had he gone to Chelsea. Pirlo, while being slow and distinctly unphysical can slice any defence open with a single pass and his ability to create chances that no one else sees is what has been lacking at the Bridge over the last season. What I think Ancelotti is trying to do is instill his AC tactics in Chelsea, but Chelsea are lacking in the deep lying playmaker role. They have Lampard and Joe Cole who can play farther up in the 5 man midfield, Essien and Mikel can play behind the Catenaccio. The only thing remaining that Chelsea need are the wingers who have the speed and inteligence to get behind the opposition fullbacks to pull the defence apart leaving more space for a quick striker through the middle.

This though, is not an entirely Italian ideology, if you take a good look at Manchester United, they have actually bought the type of players to play in this type of system. Carrick may be the best English version of the Catenaccio and had Hargreaves stayed fit, could have had him in the traditional Gattuso role with Rooney playing behind the out and out front man.

If you ask me, Pirlo isn't the best option out there, and thus there hasn't been an official bid by Chelsea yet. If Ancelotti is as wily as he looks, he may end up moving for a younger version of Pirlo in Gaetano D'Agostino

Eh, he's not been great last season, but he's got ability. Like I said Gaetano's a better option

    We should get some wingers...

I know I've said this so many times, but does someone hear "Angel Di Maria"?
