Folks I just thought of something: how come the Olypmics and the World Cup have never been hosted by the oil-rich countries in the Middle East and South Asia (India etc.)? We'll be having the World Cup in SA next year, so isn't it high time for us to have the Olympics and World Cup in the Middle East and India? they certainly can afford it, with all their oil!!

is Turkey considered? well me thinks the Turks have the best chance for a Middle Eastern country to host the WC, only if they can get rid of some robbers and pickpockets.
otherwise Iran and Saudi Arabia should have a fair shout and these countries are not that bad in soccer.

No-one wants to touch this topic?
we don't like challenging questions in this forum do we?
we like to play it safe eh?

Egypt, Israel and United Arab Emirates might be good too. however they are quite near some political unrest. And if there is a Olympic or WC there, it is either going to be the most peaceful world event or the a nasty punch in the face to the world. I feel some players might not want to travel there for some reasons ...

Israel is too dangerous, but seeing how Dubai has grown so much over the years then the UAE might be a good idea. Not Saudi Arabia, they're crazies.

i dont think turkey will be getting it anytime soon.the death penalty issue is a big negative, its supposedly all thats preventing them from getting into the EU

A lot of the countries mentioned are to be honest either too small, don't have the finances to to undertake a major event or do not have the infrastructure.
In terms of the middle east only Saudi Arabia and Israel do not fall into those countries and in a bidding process both countries would lose out to competitors because of the lack of sporting facilities for a start. The same reason applies for India and Pakistan.
For a sporting point they would be the reasons. As for political reasons, I'm not touching them with a barge pole....

Remember japan and South korea jointly hosted the World Cup...so why can't the UAE and Saudi Arabia jointly host the World Cup/Olympics? They certainly have the money (it's not a question of money and I think you all know that)

how about playing at the Gaza Strip?
Egypt would be good, thats where G.I. Joe and Transformers were filmed at.
India could use those crickey cricket field as football pitches.

lol ive been to egypt...had my photo taken at the pyramids and sphinx and everything

India would finish dead last in the World Cup with a terrible G.D...they're so pathetic. It'd be better to do it in a country where football is a major sport.

I have been to Egypt too. that was where i had my first puff of Shisha.
hence, when I watch Transformers and GI Joe, I had that nostalgia in me. oh yes, wheres that guy from Egypt ... he was quite funny.

The problem with UAE and Saudi Arabia is not about money. More that FIFA is not keen on co-hosting and how top stadia 40,000 plus do the countries have?
As for Eqypt, I've been there too and they lack the stadia needed. And getting around Egypt is a nightmare...
As for India, using the cricket pitches, you're joking right?
Don't get me wrong I'm all for the World Cup being worldwide but you have to be realistic.

how about Pakistan or Bangladesh or Myanmar(they are part of South Asia arnt they?) My concerns will be that they will be like South Africa, lack of basic resources. Water is not readily available, the weather could be bad for the event. Another thing that might work against Myanmar is the political stability. Talking about that, Indonesia is bidding for the 2018 World Cup. geez

How the fuck would Myanmar do in the actual tournament? Geez...

haha Malaysia to host for 2030 WC hehe
.. enough facilities, more stadiums, the people here are polite too..
mufan's utter lack of knowledge of English makes his joke all the funnier. Haha!!
-

mufan: by then Afghanistan would safe from troubles, Nepal or Sri Lanka would have been able to host it too.
another thing, besides the Shah Alam stadium, the other areas have quite poor infrastructure, similar to Indonesia but not as bad.

i think UAE r going to bid for the 2018 edition... saudi arabia have the facilities for that kind of an event but if that region was considered then it would be a co-host thing

Wow this is just crazy...Usain Bolt has INSANE SPEED! He just broke the WR for the 200m when he clocked 19.19s at the World Championships in Berlin...he also set a new WR for the 100m (9.58s) at the same event
The 200m is arguably a harder record to break than the 100m...what's half of 19.19s? anyone a math whiz here?
Just how fast can this guy go?? I think he can break the 18s mark for the 200m and the 9.4s for the 100m

how about the World Cup in beautiful Maldives? It is probably my dream vacation there.
since the next 2 World Cup will be in S.Africa and Brazil respectively, I think Mexico will have a good chance of hosting the event in 2018 or at least USA.

Haha, the Maldives might have like one stadium up to FIFA standards. And seeing as high tide would probably flood the field, I'm not sure that's such a good idea

I don't doubt the Maldives is a very beautiful place, but I don't think they have the infrastructure to host such a major event. We're talking a major transportation system, accommodations, facilities, etc.
Come on...are NONE of you impressed by INSANE USAIN Bolt's achievements? or r u jaded?
I didn't feel like opening up a new topic so figured I'd sidle the usain bolt and Family Guy posts in there
at least I didn't post anything about Megan Fox and her lesbian fantasies and lust for female strippers again
Oh my...it's getting Hot in Herre...cue Nelly, DJ!!

COme on... NONE of you like Family Guy?? that's like the funniest show on TV!!

Insane Bolt, yea by the the time the I start a 100m sprint, he would have already finished.
Megan Fox eh? I like her bad-ass tattoos too. Marilyn Monroe, yin and yang, there once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART, strength.

Family Guy, terrible show. A rip off of the Simpsons anyway, plus too much fecal humour. Their only good episode so far was that Stephen King parody.
