Carlos Tevez is to join Manchester City, having agreed to a five-year contract with the Eastlands club, and will sign this week once the formality of a medical has been completed.

He will wear the number 32 shirt, the club's official website confirms.

City gaffer Mark Hughes clearly very pleased to have finally snared the Argentina international, who moves, of course, from the Sky Blues' great rivals Manchester United, telling the club's official website, "It is terrific news. Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward.
"He is not only outstanding technically but he is a reliable goal scorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension.

"I cannot wait to welcome him to City. This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the very best it can possibly be. I am sure our fans will give Carlos an exceptionally warm welcome."

Tevez has won a league title in every country in which he has played, and scored 34 goals in 99 league and cup games during his two-year spell with United.

    Zack Wilson, Goal.com

"We win as a team, lose as a team and celebrate as a team."

'Reliable goalscorer'? Not something that his goals per game ratio really says but he's a good signing for City. Can't say I'm not slightly bitter, but I wish him well as long as he doesn't prove to be a thorn in our side.

All I can say is thank God that boring transfer saga is finished. Now to for the papers to settle on Xabi Alonso saga some more to bore us to pieces once again.

oh so glad great to see some football again. It's not that I don't like transfer rumours I do, it's exciting when someone good is linked with your club it's just these days you get one rumour, the same rumour repeated, over and over, over and over.... Anyone else agree?

Rumors are a business for footie journos to keep busy, especially when there are few or no matches to write about. I know the guy at the Orlando Sentinel and, because the MLS is such shit, he sits in a certain tavern and plays with his laptop all day, pulling up names and stats all day, happily inventing rumours. Like, oh yeah, Veiera's contract is up and Cambiasso's only got one year and those Arabs at Portsmouth will have lots of dosh to piss away. So, how about: "Pompey up for midfield blockbuster deal with Inter. Mourinho huffs and puffs!"

and then he posts his rumour on the net and one of the English press journos reads it.. and it snowballs from there..

Beckham going to City would actually anger me. I don't think he'll do it but I wouldn't be surprised with the sorta money City offer. Do they need Adebayor as well? They should be concentrating on getting defenders, they're yet to get a decent one even though they've been linked with Terry
